Hi all – I was looking for some advice on what this might be, and if it’s serious. This is a 10-day old bunny, it seems like one of his toes didn’t form correctly or something, and it’s misshapen slightly. I can take him to a vet if I need to, but I was trying to avoid that because he’s so young, and it takes me a while to get the closest rabbit vet, so I was only planning to do that if it’s necessary. I didn’t want to cause undue stress to him or his mother.

I’ve attached a couple images of the bad foot and one of the good foot for comparison.

Does anyone know what this might be, and if it’s serious?

        Thanks

First time mothers can sometimes hurt their babies, even biting body parts off. I would take him to the vet, as they can advise you on what to do.

I took him (turned out to be a her) to the vet – he said it might have been caused by an infection which he treated her for – he had to drain some pus then wiped it down with iodine.

Glad it’s getting treated. Missexing baby rabbits is very common because of their size and part development.

I agree with Wick. He/she is still really too early to tell if it’s a boy or girl, as they are still less than a month old.
