Hey guys! New here, nice to meet you! Next week I am picking up my 8 week old bun, Tofu, from a breeder located about an hour away from me. I have everything ready and I’ve been doing hour of research on my freetime for the past weeks in preparation. Today I found out that the person I am buying from feeds the babies timothy hay instead of alfalfa. I was under the impression across pretty much all bunny care sites that you want to feed babies alfalfa for the first 3-7 months of their life at least. I am not going to challenge her about her choice in hay, thoigh I do disagree, I am just wondering if it is advisable to switch Tofu from timothy hay to alfalfa. I have already bought 20 lbs of alfalfa as well!
If I should switch him to alfalfa, how should I go about it? Should I feed him 1 part alfalfa for every 3 parts timothy for a week and slowly increase? Has anyone had to deal with a rabbit in this situation?
I just want him to be healthy and happy and get all the nutrition he needs at his young age. Thanks anyone who answers!
