  Stanley ate some of a milk chocolate hershey’s egg this evening. I’m aware I need to give tons of hay/veggies and watch him. However, I was wondering how panicked I should be and if anyone’s had experience with something like this.
  
  I have added a picture of the piece of chocolate he ate next to a picture of what they usually look like untouched.
  
  Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

  It’s okay to make mistakes, don’t beat yourself up about this! That amount of chocolate shouldn’t be very harmful to your bunny, but you should still get a vet checkup regardless. Rabbits lack the enzymes that help us digest chocolate, so if your bunny had eaten more, it could’ve been very toxic to him and possibly induced a seizure.

  Chocolate can be very toxic so I would at least call the vets. Definitely push hay and water.

  You can call your vet, make an estimate of the weight of what he ate/ send the picture. We recently had a case of chocolate poisoning here, (bunny made it but needed vet care) so it can be dangerous. But it depends a lot on the precentage of cacao in the chocolate, amount ingested and the weight of the bunny.
  
  These things happen, so don’t beat yourself up about it.

  I found this. It requires an estimate of the ingested amount + the weight of your bun.

  Thanks everyone for your help. I took him to the vet this afternoon and she thinks he’s totally fine. He’s acing normal as well. Am I out of the woods? It’s been 18 hours

  Frances Harcourt-Brown, famous British rabbit Vet, says poisonings as a rule give symptoms within 6 hours. So I think you’re in the clear.
