Hi all *waves* sorry have not been around for a while been busy, went back to uni, changed jobs twice and just been run off my feet.

As some will know I have three rabbits, all rescues.  Bugz & Anya a bonded pair that hate me and live in the study in a run style pen.  Rufus who was suppose to join his friends on the rainbow bridge about 2 years ago but is still kicking and just had his 5th tooth op and came through ok, but touch and go but put his wife the cat in his cage with him to help aid his recovery and he came through fine after that.  So I am a bunny total, three is more then enough.  Rufus and Bugz hate each other so Rufus has run of the whole house and uses the dog door and has to be kept away from the others but that is fine.

So today I am driving along and what do I see, a kitten dashing across the road, scared it will get flattened I chase it only to find out it is not a kitten but a rabbit!  He/She is a bit on the thin side, scared brainless, covered in poo and really long nails but only small so I get him/her home and wash her up (yeah I know you should not wash them but honesty it became needed) dry, clip and fluff and this is what I have!

At the moment I am calling him/her Kitten as well that is what I thought he/she was (sorry but I can’t sex rabbits!)  Not sure what to do, as I would love to keep but I just can’t, struggling with money with the pets I have at the moment let alone adding another one in that will need injections and spaying.  Think this one will be off to the rabbit rescue unless I can work something out

Poor little Kitten he/she is so small and cute!

Oh, AV…. She is beautiful….. Have you checked the lost and found to see if someone is missing her. What a gorgeous baby.
Where are you, your home city and state isn’t showing. It will make it a lot easier to find a foster if we know where you are.
I know how you feel. One of the babies from Peppers first litter was returned, I really couldn’t afford to keep her but as I could not find a suitable home and I didn’t want to see Nermal disrupted anymore I bit the bullet and decided she was staying. It’s hard, the no luxuries budget has gone to re-assessed staples but we are all together and everyone is fed.

Can you ship her live express to Australia or get someone to smuggle in their carry on luggage. I so love this baby.

She’s very cute. Obviously an escaped domestic or released. (grrr)
Your nearest shelter will get her adopted out fast since she’s so pretty. They’ll fix her, too. Do check the online city animal rescue listings in case someone reported her lost. Also, if you don’t like your rescue, take her to your vet and ask if she can help rehome her. (She may check her over without cost to you.)

Lol. Careful what you wish for Roberta! AV’s in Aust.

Wow AV! she’s beautiful…I’d have a hard time parting with her too.
A friend has some good rabbit contacts over your way. I could ask her to start networking about this one if you like?
I agree about looking to see if someone has lost this one. Or posting a Found classified.

Could also rehome within the fortnight but they might have to pry her from my arms……

Oh lordy! WHERE DO YOU LIVE?! She/he is adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dad won’t let me have any more rabbits, but I would smuggle her/him into my room!! LOL

I would check with the HRS. If you have a local one, they can help you. Even if they can’t take it, they should be able to give you names of other shelters that might take her/him.

Very cute! Even if you can’t keep her, just the fact that you rescued her from the road will make all the difference in her life. I hope you’re able to find her a great home or a rescue who will take her.

Hey guys, I am in Melbourne Australia and there is the rabbit runaway near me so i guess she can go there, the person who helped me catch her is going to door knock the street to see if they can find her owner but the way she originally looked I would say she has been out for a while (I am now saying she as I think it is a girl). Anyway if nothing turns up in the next week and I can’t find a home then I will take her up to the rabbit runaway. It is going to be hard to part with her!

id keep a classified simple with no photo and only state general area it was found. Then enquirers would have to give a detailed description and street where they’ve lost one.

Hi Freya, You should see if you can look up Rumi’s Journey fro Ontario Canada to Illinois USA. A little stray cat that with the aid of URRKN and Facebook Cheezpeeps was relayed cross country to his new home. http://undergroundrailroadrescuedkittynetwork.wordpress.com/2012/05/14/you-say-you-want-a-kitteh-eh/ SA is closer to Melbourne.

Freyja I have driven bunny bites to SA once before so taking a rabbit cross country (now that I have cruise control) would be no big deal only three days round trip really (I need one day to rest in the middle!)

We have put up posters in the area but have been told that there is a large orange rabbit that has been on the lose for sometime in the area so my guess is that she breed and this is one of the offspring. A guy called me today from the door knock and said that he has two others he found by as per his description they sound like they could be from the same litter. His kids have convinced him to keep them so I passed on info about keeping them inside and the rabbit vet and how they have to be desexed, vaccinated and microchipped (well I believe that have to be anyway!)

You could both meet halfway and shorten the journey for each driver….

Mummy bunny was probably put out because she was pregnant. I hope someone can catch her before she gets sick or injured.

haha it would be wonderful but i would be so worried that Parsley might not bond with her and im unfortunately car-less at the moment! i’ve been debating about getting him a friend soon but if i think really hard and seriously i probably should wait a little while longer (i’ll most likely be moving house near the end of the year and should probably wait to assess how many bunnies it would fit..)
i’ve heard alot of good things about the melbourne rabbit clinic, maybe they could help/refer you?

i am really sorry if i got your hopes up, as you well know taking on another bunny shouldnt be taken lightly and although she is totally adorable and i would absolutely love to adopt her, but if i think logically i should probably wait a bit and see how this year pans out before extending my fur family…Parsley is a very attention demanding bun

Nah Freyja that is cool no hope up, been in the adoption game long enough to know that until the animal goes out the door it is not adopted! Going back on the weekend to look for the mum and any others that are loose, the family that helped me catch her are going to keep an eye out as well and we will go from there.

Can we perhaps do a fund raiser. We did it for Rumi. Set up an account, appointed an administrator and told people where to send the money. Anything left over is being kept for other cheezpeeps etc with emergencies. I knew RabbitRunaway was full, I looked up the site.

I know it works best if you ask for a set amount like $3 or $4. 9Lives Cat rescue is doing a $4forPaws, I’ve already given.

I’d suggest finding someone flying to Perth and send her across as hand luggage but Kelly and Nadia from Rabbit Rescue (Perth) are in dire straights and if they can’t find a home it might be sardine city at my place if the accept my last resort offer.
