Are dribbles a concern if no other symptoms?

Hi all,

Just wondering if dribbling is always something to be concerned about when there are absolutely no other symptoms?

My neutered male has been leaving little orange-ish pee stains in random places on the carpet, about the size of a quarter or a bit larger (loonie or toonie, for Canadians out there!). This has been ongoing pretty much always since I first started letting him explore outside his condo a couple months ago. A couple times per day, maybe? Though I’m not sure as I haven’t been monitoring that closely because I didn’t realize it might not be normal. I really can’t remember if this occurred before his neuter (2 months ago) or not. Could neutering have indirectly caused this problem? I didn’t think much about it. It didn’t seem to be territorial and no vertical spraying. I just assumed they were little accidents in an otherwise well litter-trained bun.

Then I read that it could be a sign of a UTI. But he has no other symptoms. No straining, no wet haunches, no change in eating habits, no tooth grinding or other pain indications, nor any other behavior or symptoms that would cause concern. He is now 5 months old and eats really well – lots of Timothy hay and Orchard grass, tons of water, 1/2c Martin pellets, 1/2c leafy greens and herbs gradually being introduced from House Rabbit Society’s safe list. He binkies, runs around, is alert and attentive, and seems really happy and healthy?

How old is he? I am by no means an expert so take this with a pinch of salt. It does seem like it could be a bladder abnormality such as ill formed muscles (much like the atrophy seen in older people’s bladders and increased visits to the toilet). keep monitoring him and arrange a vet visit if possible to get an experts opinion.

Thanks for your reply! He is now about 6 months old. I’ve been monitoring and, fortunately, whatever it was seems to have stopped for now. I’ll be keeping my eyes open though, just in case it starts up again!

Random pee spots could simply be him marking his territory. How “new” is the area he is exploring?

It didn’t strike me as territorial because it was such small amounts and in arbitrary locations (not just the perimeter or places that smell strongly like me such as my bed). When my other bun misbehaves and pees to claim territory, its really obvious. Eg, a huge puddle in my bed while I’m IN it in direct defiance like a direct message of dominance/pecking order (I was able to correct that behavior, btw). Not little dribbles like this in random spots all around. And the territory is not “new”. He has had the room for 5 months now. Anyway, it seems to have stopped, so maybe it was territorial after all? *shrug*
