Ophelia’s preferred method for starting out on a fresh litter box. Anybun else eat outside at first?

I used Paint3D to rotate the picture to show up properly. I’ve no idea where that blue dot came from!

Yeah both my buns eat outside their litter boxes. Not just when I give them more hay though, just throughout the day. They eat a little bit then hop away!

Yep! Then they leave a nice lil turd pile too :-/

Haha yes, that’s Atlas’s favourite trick. In fact, all my bunnies seem to have totally lost all litter box habits, so we’re going to have some serious litter training time after bonding!

Also that’s a great sized box! What is it?

Yes! Garf does this too, everytime I put down a clean box.

S&L it’s an XL cat litter pan! It’s pretty roomy for her!

I’ve often seen one or the other of my two – Panda, most usually – start out with a fresh batch of hay by nibbling on the strands hanging outside the litterbox. This generally takes place when the other one is in the box, though said box is big enough for the two of them to bunloaf comfortably while nibbling hay.

For what it’s worth, Fernando has lately taken up snoozing in the litterbox during the daytime; Panda prefers to relax outside.

I’m glad she doesn’t sleep in the litter tray! I just thought it was funny, I made her a perfect little nook to get in there and she’s just like “nah, I’m good here” XD luckily she doesn’t leave any piles outside while doing this

Wick does this thing occasionally where he’s mid-about-to-jump-in posed by the litterbox, literally contemplating if the effort required to jump in is worth avoiding my scolding, or if it should be done so he uses the toilet in there and eats hay… rabbits are lazy… or efficient. It’s debatable.

Yup. And ditto the turd pile. My boys especially tend to do this in the evening, for some weird reason.

Yep. But then when he feels business is on the way, he hops in to do it.
