And by hookers I obviously meant people who crochet. I really want to make this baby bag, but for the life of me I can not understand the pattern… Any help/input would be sooooooo appreciated!

Strangely, I knew exactly what you meant by the title. lol Seems to be alot of crafters on here. Off top of my head Amy&Hugo, Scooter&Annette’s Annette, SageCat all crochet. Maybe they’ll look in or you could PM them.

btw, the link goes to a sign up page. Any other way you upload pattern?

p.s Have I mentioned how happy I am to see you popping in lately?!

I crochet, but not…. uhm…. well? I just do very basic stuff. I’m not sure that I’d be able to figure out a confusing pattern!

ETA:  Okay I had a look at the pattern and it makes my head spin.  I’d need to have yarn and hook in hand and try to actually do it while I was reading it in order to understand it.  I can say that the picture they’re showing with it I’m 99% sure is knitted and not crocheted though.

That directions are very complicated. One thing that could help you is to write out the directions without all the abbreviations. My only advice though is to just keep trying it. Sometime I have to try a certain spot in a pattern 20 times and read it 100 times before I’m actually able to do it correctly. I’ve never done any type of clothing though. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

They instructions for both knitted and crocheted versions. They are just terribly written instructions I think. ARGH!! I guess I”m just going to have to wing it and try to figure it out.

Ah so you are a member of happy hookers.        A lady started a group and is teaching knitting .   She called the group happy hookers.

I have no idea of how to knit or crochet.    I can make a chain stitch thats it.  One long long chain stitch.

I hope you can figure out that pattern                  sometimes directions aren’t very clear

This is actually a pretty easy pattern but poorly written/overly complicated. When I lived in Guatemala all the crochet patterns there were visual, a map drawn out with specific keys for each stitch, and it was soooo much easier because you could immediately visualize it, as opposed to this long string of words. Just start it, print a few copies from the internet and cross out the lines as you complete them so you don’t lose track, and it will eventually take shape. This looks like a forgiving pattern, plus only requires single crochet stitch, increasing, and decreasing. Annette is correct, the picture is of a knitted version (I can’t knit to save my life.) Very cute pattern, I don’t know anyone about to have a newborn but I might make one for future gifting!!

I think it’s absolutely adorable. I’ve used a graph crochet pattern before, but this isn’t even really a graph pattern. It’s just really poorly written. I’m going to just try to wing it and keep count of my stitches and hope I can get the front two pieces to match the back. Ugh.

It is pretty crazy cute though!

It’s one of those things that practice makes perfect. Once you get the hang out it you can do it with your eyes closed. Reading the patterns is harder than the actual work. lol

Yep, it’s definitely practice practice practice. I’m just super frustrated with this pattern bc I got myself so excited about it, but I only read the first few rows, then it just got unduly complicated. I’m just trying to work it out myself now. I hate patterns that are poorly written, especially when they are a pattern from a pretty big company! (Lionbrand)
