We are heading to the vet tomorrow morning and I just wanted to be prepared. I haven’t read many positive things. I think it was a small scratch that turned into an infection. It’s on the roll under her neck. ? it’s a deep round pus filled thumbprint sized boo-boo. She seems totally fine in her behavior and eating.

Anyone have any experience with what I might be heading into as far as care and prognosis? Or bun is almost 5 years old and very beloved ❤️

        Thanks in advance! ❤️

          Hi Beccalionsmom

Your vet may simply put her on antibiotics and see if that resolves it. Otherwise they may want to excise the wound and clean out the pus, if it’s an abscess. Unfortunately they cannot be lanced like in other animals. The pus is too thick.

If you’re not certain there was initially a wound, it may be the lump is just a benign fatty tumor.  I sometimes feel occasional lumps in the loose areas of skin in the dewlap area.
