Late last night, out of hours, she stopped eating and drinking completely, though she may have not eaten or drunk anything all day. No poos or wees either since about 9 PM. I’d been syringing water and critical care into her and nothing was improved this morning. So although it meant asking my OH to drive me and bunny back into town after he just got home with my daughter from her surgery, off we went to the vets.
Pip is being held overnight for fluid therapy and diagnostics to see if she has a bladder/kidney stone. She was so weak when we went in this morning and I am not very confident in the vet on call. He’s also going on vacation this week for two weeks, I think he said. (Our usual vet hasn’t been there since last year.)
Can we please have vibes for Pip? I fear she may not make it to tomorrow. :'(
Thank you. xx

I’m so sorry to hear this….Poor little Pip. And you. The only thing harder than a bunny unwell is two back to back like this.
Has she ever had a stone before?
Sending ((((Mega Healing Vibes to Pip))))))) and (((Big Hugs to you))))
Will say a prayer for her tonight.
Thank you both.
I got a call from the vet about 5 PM today saying they found no stones and were continuing to treat her for gut stasis…but now that I think of it (and after hours again of course) they have her on a drip and put a towel in with her to catch urine because she wasn’t using her litter box. Well…Pip is a chewer…what if she eats the towel or the drip? (possible choking hazards) There is no night nurse and she is going to be alone about ten hours.
I’m not cut out for bunny ownership anymore…this is taking me apart piece by piece. ![]()
((((Pip)))) (((((YOU)))))
Glad there were no stones, praying for quick recovery.
Could you call the vets with your concerns? Sorry, not much help here. ![]()

Good to hear the family is home. Now we just need Miss Pip home, hale and hearty.
Vibes to Pip….
(((((((Pip)))))))
Glad there are no stones. Please keep us updated as soon as you hear anything new.

I know being a fur Mom is hard. It seems especially hard with bunnies since they can be so fragile. But they give us so much love, it’s worth it for the happy times. But I know it’s super hard when you are dealing with more than one thing at once. When it rains, it pours BUT the sun always comes out again. ![]()

A brief update as I’m getting ready to go collect her.
Pip made it through the night without being naughty and chewing on anything she wasn’t supposed to.
She is doing well, making poos and although she’s still just taking syringe feeds for now the vet thinks she may have had a nibble or two of the hay I sent her with yesterday.
I go to get her at 5 PM. Will be so glad to have her home.
Thank you for all the vibes for my girl.
LPT: Thanks hun. I know, bunny love is like no love on earth, but I have to say that as I get older, keeping pets of any kind is becoming very hard for me. Someday these will all be at Rainbow Bridge and I will not be having any more. But I’ll have lots of good memories to choose from.
xx
Oh Pip… I’m glad she’s doing better! Now she just needs to stay that way! Continued Vibes!
I understand what you are saying. Having animals is very heart wrenching, esp as they get older. Losing them is inevitable. And after so much loss through years of having and loving many pets, it does take a toll on your heart and mind and soul.
Poor Pip. I’m glad things are looking better now. I suppose you will find out once you have her home if she will eat anything on her own. Sometimes you have to cut back on the critical care a little bit though to try to get a hunger response.
I’m so glad to her she is feeling a bit better. Hopefully, having her home will perk her appetite back up. (((Pip)))
(((((Pip))))) glad she is home with you! Glad your family is home and i hope Pip starts feeling better!
I just wanted to update everyone.
As of this evening (Friday) Pip is doing very well with drinking, eating and eliminating. We got the new hay in that they like so I’ve given her some of that and she’s gobbled it up. She really started eating hay the minute she got home and became irritable at syringe feeding right off, so I just put her in with her usual feed…she is very much back to herself and it’s quite the relief!
Thanks everyone for thinking of her and sending well wishes. Hoping there are no other bunny emergencies (or any other kind) for a long while now!
