Another Pee Thread: Is this a normal reaction or sign of possible infection?

I do a lot of cleaning of boxes with vinegar when it comes time to dump and sanitize.  I use white distilled vinegar and have never had any problems with it.  Occasionally Peter will swing his butt outside of the box and pee on the mat that it sits on, and either I catch him in the act and soak it up or end up cleaning it up when I find the dried stain.  I found a puddle next to the box a little while ago when I went to clean it and just poured some vinegar on it so it could start neutralizing while I do the box… to my surprise it starting hissing and fizzing!  It got a little cloudy/murky around the edges and fizzed for a minute or two.. and continued to fizz and hiss if slushed around. 

Have I just been oblivious to this reaction between semi-stale bunny pee and vinegar, or could Pete have a UTI that he’s not letting on about?

I have no idea…but I don’t think that this would indicate a UTI in any event.

Thanks for the input, Sarita.
I figure I’m probably just being a bit paranoid since there’s been a good bit of stress lately, but it just seemed strange to me at the time. Probably just the vinegar killing the microbes/etc, now that I think about it. I’m going to pay a little more attention to whether or not it happens every time though, just because it’s nice to know if it’s normal or not.

I did notice that he was acting a little off, yesterday, but I think that’s because of Zoey. She’s having some paranoia issues at the moment that we’re hoping to have figured out soon… From past cat experiences I think she’s having sight/hearing issues due to her age. :\ Pete has been concerned and will go off to find her and stare at her if she hasn’t been out in a while, so I think that’s stressing him out a bit, too. His appetite decreases until he sees her come out and eat, then he’ll inhale his food and play until she goes back into hiding… Then he goes back to sitting on his feet and watching for her to come back out.
