I noticed yesterday that Sawyer was spinning in circles trying to reach an itch on his back. I reached in and tried to itch his back for him but as soon as I stopped he kept spinning. It’s possible that he might have gotten hurt there from the other rabbit he was “supposed to be friends with” at the previous owner’s…but it concerns me, because he spins around and around trying to reach it.

is it possible he may have fleas or mites or any similar condition which is affecting his skin? take a look under his skin for flakes or red patches

Yeah, I thought of that and was horrified – if he has fleas and infects my entire lot…I will be so mad.

spinning in circles can be a sign of inner ear troubles.  If you don’t see anything on his skin and he keeps spinning- he should be seen by a vet.  Unless he is overweight he should be able to groom himself well enough to scratch a simple itch.  Like was already mentioned- fleas could be an issue- rabbits like cats groom A LOT- so fleas may not be really obvious at first because the ingest the fleas and flea dirt when they groom.

yeah i was also wondering if it could be ear related.  worth checking into if it continues.

I don’t think it’s an ear thing because he legitimately reaches back to scratch something but can’t reach it so he keeps trying to turn to get it, which means spinning.
He hasn’t done it in a couple days, since I brought him here…I checked him out last night and saw nothing out of the ordinary…
                    *shrug* I don’t know…!

hmm… could be ‘just one of those things’.  you’re so observant L_L that if anything IS wrong you’ll surely pick up on it.

hmm – well glad to hear you haven’t seen it again and that there are no signs of anything out of the ordinary. I guess keeping a careful eye on him sounds like the best plan. hope it will turn out to be nothing.
