        Bunny friends!

I have a 3 year old Holland Lop who has to be amputated this week due to a fractured leg. Does anyone have experience with a bunny amputee? Any advice? I am really nervous and scared for how her life will be post-operation.

She looks so precious, and I’m so sorry that this is happening to the two of you. Rabbit’s adapt very easily so I think if she gets the proper care she should be fine. It might be a long process, though. She might have trouble cleaning her ears so you might have to do it for her, and maybe rig her enclosures so that she could prop herself on something if she needs to? I know humans get phantom limb pain, and it’s probably likely that animal’s do too. Your vet should have a lot more information for you.

Please keep us updated on this and I wish the two of you the best!

Aw so sorry to hear that She is so cute!

I remember reading about disabled bunnies before, and many of them get to live healthy long lives post-op. You can check this website out http://www.disabledrabbits.com/limb-loss.html – it has a lot of information on how to care for a disabled bun.

Sending lots of good recovery vibes for the operation and hope everything goes smoothly for you both xx

Aw, what a sweetheart. I don’t have any direct experience. Do you have instagram? If so, have a look at frankandnancybun on there. Frank is a 3 legged bunny – he too had his leg amputated. I’m sure the humans could give you some tips!
