I definitely have a problem with being an overly paranoid bunny momma… with good reason though – these little buggers REALLY know how to send us on some roller coaster rides when they get sick, so I’m always trying to watch out for anything that could be something…

        So today it’s Simba.

Simba has always been a bit of a snorter… He snorts and breathes heavy when we pet him between the ears (while he tooth purrs) or when we are walking with him from Point A to Point B (this I believe is out of nervousness).  It’s typically this cute little snort with heavied breathing.  Today however, I got him out of the x pen to cuddle with and he began doing the same thing except today it almost seemed labored… like he was having trouble.  He snorted about 3x louder than I’ve ever heard him – almost to the point where it sounded nasal-y.

Ideas, thoughts, opinions?  Am I being overly paranoid or could there really be something wrong?

          Did he eventually calm down?

I wonder if he didnt recognize you initially and got more distressed then usual?

They seem to use sense of smell a lot in recognition. So if you for some reason had different smell on you (hand lotion, washing detergent, cooking smells on clothes etc) that might confuse them a little.

If his breathing is normal at other times, I wouldn’t worry to much just yet.

I wouldn’t worry unless it keeps up.

I know how you feel about being paranoid. I’m so paranoid and super watchful of my bunnies’ health. Which has proved helpful many times because I always catch health problems right away. So it’s not a bad thing, except other people think we are crazy….
