I’ve had allergy testing and I’m allergic to grass pollen. Does this mean I’m allergic to hay?

          bummer!

Well…I think the hay has already set seed when it’s harvested, so there shouldn’t be much pollen in it? But maybe residual??

I also wonder if it’s ALL grasses, or just certain species?

I would imagine the hay would lose all of the pollen by the time it gets to you because of the drying process. Although I didn’t realize grass has pollen.

I’m allergic to grass pollen too! I do get a reaction from the hay. Any kind of hay. I break out on my legs and scratch for hours if I don’t take something for it. But I might be a really terrible case xD

Also allergic to grass pollen as well as hay. I have to wear long sleeves when handling hay and wash my hands directly after or else I break out in hives I would assume if youve been handling hay without a problem though, that youre in the clear for hay?

Well I don’t seem to have any sort of itching/scratching reaction so that’s good. I have a lot of respiratory symptoms due to lung disease, and antibiotics haven’t really helped so the doctor decided to do a few allergy tests to see if that could be a factor. I’m also apparently allergic to dogs now. I live with a German shepherd!  I’m allergic to dust mites and mould too.

I’m hoping that the amount of pollen that’s in the hay isn’t enough to be a huge factor. I just had a bit of a panic haha!

They tested me for timothy, rye, orchard, june, bermuda, and brome. But… I have the opposite problem you have. I’m not allergic to any of them.

I made one of these for my apartment after the wildfires, and it’s been pretty great! You might make a couple for your home to see if it helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH5APw_SLUU

I did put the filter on the intake side of the fan, as some people in the comments suggest.
