Hey all! Sorry I haven’t been around for awhile, started volunteering at the Colorado rabbit house and i keep getting sick so I’m a busy bee, and I started on my Etsy shop! Hopeful to make some progress soon. Anyway enough about me, I’m still having trouble with Peter’s poop though he hasn’t stopped eating and pooping since the last scare, he’s still not fixed due to the tummy issues but we found a great vet and we’re going to get him fixed there after Xmas is over since it’s also quite expensive. Anyway, freckles (Peter’s brother) has started showing similar symptoms to the vet, CO-HRS owner and I think it may be due to the gut bacteria because of them being taken from mom too soon, and improper diet before I got my paws on them. I’ve been having to give peter 1tsp pumpkin and 1tsp critical care every 3 and a half hours, he’s getting sick of the stuff so I had to start baking it into cookies, so far so good. But unsure if I should still refrigerate? They are only a tiny bit soft in the middle like a real cookie, but we’re in the oven at 200 degrees for 3 hours, would they be safe to leave out of the fridge at this point? Don’t want condensation making them moist!
Anyway onto the reason i made this thread, the owner of the rabbit house said that it might help to give them the oxbow digestive tablets, I bought a container of 60 but no one will touch it! Even my older bunnies turn up their noses, I even tried smearing pumpkin on one and freckles just licked it off and left the tablet! Any tips on getting them to eat them? I find they’re super hard and only my hubby can break them in half. Anyone else have issues getting their bunnies to eat these? I know they might not do anything for the healthy bunnies, but I have two with slight digestive issues, but tests came back clean, seems to be all cecal issues, slight bloating, sometimes pain, pumpkin and critical care seem to fix them right up, but freckles only needs it once every 7 hours, Peter needs it every 3 and a half or I notice his poo going soft again. We bought them every type of hay we could find and they are both eating just fine, not sure what else to do but gotten more second opinions than I can count at this point!
