Hi everyone, so my bunny is a one year old male and he has not been neutered. At the moment I do not have enough money to neuter him (I am saving up), I think that this is leading him to be aggressive.

He is pretty much free range around my room and he is only forced to be in his cage at night and when I am not there, other wise he has a choice.

He is only aggressive when I try to leave my room, even if I only get close to my door he runs over and lunges at my feet/ankles. He has bitten me many times but never severely. I am worried that when the gets older he will be able to bite harder and harm me or himself.

If you have any tips that have calmed down this behavior or if you think that neutering him will help him then please share your opinions!

Yes but just a male black lab dog and they get along great.

Neutering will certainly help, but in the meantime it would help to restrict his space a bit. He sounds like he is becoming territorial over the whole room, so giving him a smaller territory that’s his should help. You can attach an x-pen to his cage so he has a “front lawn” that he has access to 24/7, and then still give him several hours of free-roam time. Then you can lead him to his pen and lock him in when you leave so at least he doesn’t attack you.

It would be best to get his neutering done sooner than later if he’s already showing these types of behaviors, as sometimes they can be harder to break once they are neutered.

Thank you so much! I will be sure to get him neutered very soon.

Another thought that crossed my mind is perhaps you can give him a treat or a toy (or even top up his hay) before you leave the room to distract him a bit?

I have been giving him treats here and there to distract him while I leave but sometimes he isn’t hungry or doesn’t want the treats but when he does it works great, Thank you.
