Hi guys. What I’m doing it making a platform to raise the buns enclosure up off the floor 3 inches. I have a drop pan to put underneath it and it’ll have a wire floor. But I won’t make it until I can find something to put over the wire so it’s fine for their feet.

I’ve seen these, but I’m having a heck of a time finding them. I’m not even sure what they are called. I’ve seen them called EZ Mat and EZ Feet, but when I do a Google search to find other stores or manufactures, I can’t find anything helpful.

I’ve found Martin’s Cages and Leith Petwerks, but both have outrageous shipping. I think Martin’s may be my best bet if I can’t find another site.

        http://www.martinscages.com/product…helves.htm   &   http://www.leithpetwerks.com/prodpa…code=MS930

Or if anyone has any other ideas of what would work to protect their feet. I’m open to suggestions.

I’d take a look around your local hardware or garden store. There may be plastic lattice or vent covers you could use. It looks a bit like a portab;le AC’s vents. Even some skylight covers or some sort of roofing could be a substitute.

ETA: What about plastic drainage mat?  (as below)

Hey Mr. Bill – did you check out ebay??? Someone brought a bunch of those exact mats to the shelter. They said they got them on ebay and they were not going to work for what they wanted so they donated them!!!! We have not deciided how to use them since they don’t really fit into any of our cages withoug cutting them and they don’t really stand very high off the floor to be of much help (we have stainless cages and would have to build some type of drop pan system for all of them). I have not been to the shelter in a couple of weeks (I’ve been out of town), but if they still haven’t found a use for them, maybe I can snag you some!!!!!!

If you are doing a drop pan style cage, you could just leave one end of wire floor uncovered and the rest with solid flooring. Then they can go to that end to do their business. Do they currently use a box or have their litter habits still got room for improvement? Only thing with leaving one spot as drop thru grate is somebunny might like the ventilation and hang out on it all the time!

Bass Rabbit Supplies has that for less than $4. You can find it online.

I’m also curious to hear how littertraining is going. I would think using a drop pan would be messier and more difficult to keep clean than a traditional litterbox.

                    @ jerseygirl
Now something like that would work perfect. We’re running up to our local hardware store later tonight for paint, so I’ll look around. I didn’t even think about anything like that. I’ve purchased a drop pan already. It’s 30″ x 36″ x 2 1/2″. Right now we just have vinyl flooring for them to lay on and protect the carpet in their room. The buns use their boxes for the most part. Usually in the morning when we get up and let them out, there’s some poo’s laying around on the vinyl. It’s not a whole lot and we just handvac them up, but I feel bad that the buns are sleeping with poo’s around. So I want to build them something so that isn’t a problem.

Yes, I’ve checked ebay with no luck. I must not be using the right search terms. I’ve tryed
                    – cage floor mat
                    – rabbit mat
                    – wire floor cover
and I didn’t have any luck. The problem I run in to is that everywhere I do manage to find them they always have a different name. So it makes it hard to do a Google search.

                    @ GHbun
                    Excellent. Thank you.

                    @ Beka27
The litter habits seem to be fine. It’s just the random poo’s laying around in the morning. It’s not at the point where they have to have a drop pan, it’s just something I want to do for them. They’ll still have their litter boxes.
