Hello, so recently have transitioned Lily over to her adult diet and I’m looking for some feedback on whether it’s healthy enough and if it’s enough food. She’s 6 months old and weighs 3-4 pounds.
In the AM, I give her 1/8th of a cup of Sherwood forest adult rabbit pellets
In the evening, she gets a carrot bowl full of salad (usually a combo of 3 types of herbs or veggies like cilantro, arugula, basil, mint, parsley, dill, dandelion greens, etc) I’m not sure what the serving comes out to be, but if you’re familiar with the Kaytee carrot bowl it’s about 22 oz
She also gets unlimited combo of Timothy, oat and orchard grass hay and fresh water of course
2-3 x a week she gets a small treat like a papaya tablet or fresh fruit
My issue is that even though I’ve done a ton of research on healthy diets for bunnies and this seems to be enough food for an adult rabbit her age, it still seems as if she is always hungry? She is always begging for food frantically like she hasn’t eaten in ages, and she usually finishes her pellets and veggies within 10 minutes of being served and I constantly see/hear her eating hay.
She’s healthy and a good weight according to the vet and acts normally otherwise, but seems to always be hungry since I’ve cut her off from unlimited pellets and alfalfa hay. Like, if she sees me coming towards her with food she’ll go nuts and jump all around and try to climb up my leg. I need advice from some more experienced bunny parents- do you think I should up her pellets/veggies intake? Or keep doing what I’m doing and hope that she eventually gets used to this new adult diet?
Sorry for the long post and tia!
