Abnormal Poop

So Duracell dropped this doozy, Is this something to be concerned about? He is acting as he normally does?

ALSO I’ve been putting him in his cage when I’m not home and when he comes out he always has poo is his fur is this due to him just sitting in his cage? It seems to disappear after an hour or so assuming he is cleaning it himself as he hates being handled really I can’t get at him.

It might be a result of his gut having slowed down. Was there anything that stressed him out recently?

Sometimes you’ll see big poops full of fur when they’re moulting but this doesn’t look like the case here.

Is the poo you’re seeing stuck to his fur still have a shape to it or more like smears?

What is his diet? He might be needing less carbs, more fibre.

Nothing has changed in the flat recently that would.

I recently changed his food so I bought him the food he used to be on which was just pellets.

He gets a much hay as he can get from the local pet shop going to try order timothy hay see if it improves, he gets carrot and other veggies every other day.

Yeah the poo in his fur is kinda a smear with little droplets attached.

I suggest you stop the carrots, some rabbits don’t tolerate carrots, carrots have a lot of sugar even if you don’t think of it as sugary because it’s a veggie.

Sitting in his cage for long stretches of time can slow his gut down some because he doesn’t get to move around so much. Exercise/moving around helps digestion/ the movement of the intestines.

Smeary poop suggests too rich food and/or too little fiber. Hay is the best thing for that but you need to check so he actually eats his hay and keeps his good appetite up, if a bunny loses its appetite for whatever reason it’s serious and you can’t wait for them to eat when they get hungry enough the way you can with dogs.
