A sneezy and honking young rabbit

Hello, its my first post on the forum and I am looking for a bit of advice

 Lola bunny about 11 weeks old. I got her from a pet store (bad I know but she was so adorable). I brought her back 2 weeks ago and she has been fairly sneezy since, I would say at least 3 times every hour but it seems to be related to her activities. She sneezes mainly when sniffing the carpet, cleaning herself and eating hay quickly. If she was just sat there or lying or being mischievous she doesn’t sneeze. She is eating well, lots of hay and pooping fine, no discharge or runny eyes

Over the last few days I have been able to spend more time with her and have noticed her making the ‘honking’ noise a lot- mainly when grooming and eating-its quite loud and noticeable.

Is this anything to worry about? I wonder if the sneezing and honking could be related or is honking just when happy? She is due to go to the vets in 2 weeks time for a vaccination.

That’s great that you have a vet visit scheduled. Good chance to get over all health check for your new rabbit.

It sounds like she is a little congested in her nose and I would guess at the honking noise being due to that, A few of mine make a small squeaking noise when their grooming themselves also.

What type of hay is she getting? Some types can be dusty and bagged hay when it’s been packaged for a while gets very dusty.
Are you using any wood products like shavings or sawdust in her habit? For bedding or litter?

Hay I have been using dust extracted hay here http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/small-pet/rabbit-bedding/hay-and-straw/hay-bedding-for-small-animals# and then I bought Timothy hay yesterday.

She’s hiding in her box going to sleep at the moment and she was making the same honking kind of wheezy noise quite loud that I even heard it over the television, its stopped now. I don’t want to cause her stress by taking her to a vet necessarily but if she is struggling to breathe I don’t want to leave it either Trying to work out if there are no others symptoms whether it might pass or just be allergies

I called the vet and they advised me to bring her in as a emergency as the honking noise all the time is not normal or the sneezing. A vet with a special interest in rabbits checked her over and all looks okay but think it could be a respiratory infection so have prescribed antibiotics (baytril) for 7 days which I have to give her with a syringe. I hope this makes her better
