Hey guys.
Unfortunately my financial situation hasn’t gotten too much better, so I am moving in with my mom. She already has a cat (antisocial when I’m around), and her reputation for destruction has left me no choice but to temporarily rehouse her with someone while I can get myself back together. I was wondering if you guys had a little advice? I am looking for preferably a current (if not former) rabbit owner, or at least someone who can give her the attention she needs.
What should I pay to temporarily rehouse her? Do you guys have any thoughts on a price? Food may be included, but not sure. I have thought about the House Rabbit Society, but they want an exam, bloodwork AND a spay on her. My only problem with the spay part is that a) it isn’t necessary at this time and especially since she’s almost eight years old now. Wouldn’t a spay on an (almost) senior rabbit be MORE of a threat of fatal anesthesia than say a one year old? I know we aren’t all vets here, but it just seems ludicrous. The exam Im fine with since she usually gets an annual anyway, even though now that seems excessive since she’s always in good spirits.
I’m really torn up about this, since I’ve been through so much with her. It’s only temporary, but I hate feeling like I’m giving her up. It will suck to not have her around but the sooner my mom and I find a better place, the sooner I can get her back. I’d LOVE to find someone who is looking to get a bunny in the future and needs a “test” bunny to see if their life is compatible with our binky buddies.
Thanks for any help/advice.
