so several times i have gone out to shovel snow and found that a ‘snow fairy’ has generously snow-blown out my driveway for me.  my driveway is long enough to fit 3 vehicles and double wide because it adjoins with my neighbor’s.  today i woke up to find my neighbor from across the street out there clearing it for me. would have taken me at least 2 hours to do by hand.

this is incredibly nice (there was 2 feet of heavy snow plus the pile from the street plow) and i want to acknowledge it and thank him but am not sure the best way to do this.  i do not know him or his family (he is married with a colledge-aged son and a daughter in high school) other than to smile and wave.

I just voted for the note and cookies. I wouldn’t prefer that because I am on Weight Watchers, but you aren’t hiring a neighborhood kid, it’s a thank you. (And very much deserved.) So under the circumstances, I think a note with baked yummy stuff is more thoughtful than putting a price on the gesture.

I say some good old home baked goods – I think the act of taking time to bake something says you care (and it tastes good too :~) If it were me, I would so love homemade goodies.

Aw, that’s so sweet! I voted the note with cookies too.

The other day we were late for an appointment and couldn’t get the ice off of our windshield! A neighbor was close by scraping his car and came over and helped us with ours. It was so nice!

These acts of kindness make this world so much more wonderful : )

Ditto for the cookies. I need a snow fairy. We just got another 30 cm yesterday. Everyone on my street has a snow blower but me and no one ever helps me!!! My neighbors suck.

lpt that does suck! i usually don’t mind and appreciate the workout. but for those significant dumpings and for the snow plow pile it sure is nice to get a helping hand.

The worst is when you almost kill yourself shoveling and then like an hour later the stupid plow goes by again!!!

I’d say that I’d want my good deed acknowledged just verablly-no cookies but a knock on the door with a thank you I think good samaritans think the same-obviously you have one. They don’t want a gift but just to know you noticed…and perhaps a social call I do wonder if you have a, umn..admirer… My aunty had a neighbor (a fireman nonetheless!!!) do her driveway in winnipeg for years down the pavement (that takes work!!!) for years…because he admired Perhaps a good samaritan is eyeing you up

My vote was for a note and something made, to show your appreciation. Don’t go overboard and bring him something every time he does it, but if he continues you could just wave and shout thanks. The homemade goodies the first time could be a bit of an icebreaker
