I can be long winded – I’ll try to keep it short.
Bonding newbie Hector to our Hazel is the future goal.

Hector came from Gatinuea SPCA to Ottawa humane Society, then to a PAL program pet store locally and now home with me.

Hector was neutered on the 21st, 6 days ago.
When I met him on Sunday he was quiet and chill.

I went back and adopted him the next day, on Monday, & he was different. I commented that he wasn’t a scaredy bun last I met him; to which the young lady said “well, I had to wash him earlier”.

Flash forward to now; Hector has been here for 22.5 hours and his intake has me concerned.

I get that it’s been a hard knock life for the little guy – but I fear stasis.

Between dinner and breakfast put together Hector has eaten .5 to .75 of what Hazel would typically have for dinner lettuce alone.
Has maybe eaten 6-10 small pellets since he has been here. (I haven’t witnessed it)
Turned his nose up to grapes and blue berries
Had 3 small, paper thin slices of Asian pear (closest I had to Apple at home)
Will lick a bit of applesauce up (unsweetened) (put a heaping tbsp of applesauce in his 2nd water dish – no interest)

Not much interested in his hay. Tried orchard grass, botanical hay and oat hay, they seem to not excite him.

His poop has been minimal and his urine is turning the wood stove pellets dark. He doesn’t seem cold.

Do I mix up the critical care? Do I try feeding him rolled oats? Do I syringe water to him?

        Advice? Tricks and tips?

I heard a tiny squeak apple sauce in the water worked a bit

I think to be on the safe side to start CC, just until his appetite is up. Obviously as you know from previous bun experience, you can never be too careful with them.
