› FORUM › HOUSE RABBIT Q & A › 2014 & 2015 Spay/Neuter Fees in Toronto (GTA) or Ontario
I’ve accumulated several vet calls and emails to acquire the information below. They are fairly recent numbers since I had my girl spayed & boy neutered in August 2014. Please feel free to add on or correct since these dates back to August 2014 prices. I want to get my other rabbit fixed this year and these prices are only good for rabbits under the age of 1. Apparently, the prices escalate after they are a year old. Taxes are not included for the fees listed.
Hi, I’m also in Toronto and wanted to say, a little off-topic here, whether for you or anyone else in the area reading this…
I’ve had very excellent experiences in the past with Animal Hospital of High Park. They really know how to handle a rabbit properly and provide good care. Though they are pricey.
I’ve heard the same about Links Road Clinic – excellent but pricey rabbit care – which you may want to also check spay/neuter prices. My understanding is they specialize in exotics.
Greenwood Park is the cheapest of the 3 and I’ve heard good things about them with bunnies – in particular Dr. Sam Munn (male doctor).
The rest I can’t comment on.
Sorry, I don’t mean to derail your thread but thought it was important to point this out because I actually lost a bun to a bad vet in Toronto that was supposedly familiar with bunnies. I know not everyone can afford top dollar but it’s a surgery so, if at all possible, don’t automatically go for the cheapest. Do due diligence in researching & asking questions.
Make sure you do go in and check it out yourself, don’t base just on reviews from the Internet.
Has anybody tried Amherst? I am looking for a vet that does dental work closer to the East end.
I just wanted to point out this in our Forum Rules:
H. Negative Reviews/Comments of Pet Stores, Vet Hospitals, Individual Vets and other individuals: So, you saw horrible conditions at a pet store, your vet was terrible, and you had to deal with the rudest receptionist. Those things are monumentally frustrating! We understand, but for your own legal protection keep actual names of individuals and businesses out of your posts. According to the Communications Decency Act, you, the individual poster in an online forum, is legally responsible for your statements, and so if a company or individual wants to pursue a lawsuit against you, they can track you down (IF a court orders it) by your IP address (even if it changes).
Sarita, yes, this is important to keep in mind as others read and this conversation progresses. That’s why I only said the good things I know about, and didn’t name anyone re. the bad. Although I apologize if perhaps one of my comments was borderline/questionable, so I’ll edit it.
Marinabunny, thanks for that info, I was not aware of that.
Also, to clarify, when I refer to “good reviews”, I have not merely read comments on, eg, Yelp. I’ve searched high & low on various forums, and for comments from humane societies, rescues, etc. But absolutely, that is only a starting point. Always go in to “vet” them yourself.
House Rabbit Society has recommendations on how to go about this process:

I should also have said this from the start:
i2uby, thank you for posting this!
I hope you don’t feel like we jumped on you. It is indeed very convenient & useful info that is hard to come by without actually doing all the work you’ve already put in. I may add to your list when the time comes for me to neuter Mars.
Good point Sarita thank you for that. Mango, can I PM you? We seem to be in the same area and I need lots of help finding a vet!
Sure Marinabunny!
Others of possible interest that I’ve had recommended to me but do not have personal experience with:
– Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic
– Wellesley Animal Hospital (their only rabbit vet is currently on maternity leave until 2016)
Hi everyone, thanks for all the responses. I forgot I put this thread up a few weeks ago but I just added another vet $$ today.
I’m trying my hardest to keep my personal experiences to myself. I’ve been to 5 vets so far and have gotten 3 rabbits fixed so far. All alive and well.
Just trying to save people some time with these calls/emails. Some vets take weeks to respond back.
I live almost next door to Amherst. My friend has used that clinic for her rabbits when Dr. Sam Munn (Greenwood) used to work there until he opened his own clinic. There used to be two rabbit doctors there, one retired and the other Dr. Munn moved. They specialize in exotics. Please let me know how it goes cause I go all the way to Greenwood to take my rabbit and taxi ride is expensive from my place and Coney (the rabbit) is shaking like a leaf whenever I take her on the bus and subway, that’s 2 buses and a subway one way. My friend can assure you that Dr. Munn at Greenwood is one of the best rabbit vets cause all her rabbits have gone to him and he never ‘lost” any of them.
If you need a good rabbit groomer in the east end I recommend Muddy Paws at Guildwood. The technician there knows how to handle a rabbit for nail clipping, cleaning his bum and taking out all that old fur. Tell them Coney the rabbit sent you! My rabbit is very popular there everybody loves him.
Thanks for posting this!
