    Hey everyone, I’m P.

I’m in a similar situation to Bunbuns.

I adopted a male bunny after seeing a post saying that his owner loved him, but she no longer had the space/time for him after a couple months, and that she would send him to a shelter is he wasn’t adopted. I adopted him to provide the little on with a loving home. Everything was…[Read more]

Walter is post neuter 3 weeks today. He has been caged the entire time, with Boo in the pen, where previously, she had a few hours pen too every night.

They seem to like one another.

Tomorrow, I was thinking of putting them in the tub with a huge pile of greens between them, worked with my G.Pigs!

If it doesn’t go smoothly, when do I…[Read more]

    Hello all!

I have a new baby bunny I want to bond to my existing two. They are a friendly neutered pair and mostly want to get to know my new one. But every single time they approach her she runs away, stamping, sometimes growling, and won’t interact at all. She won’t eat hay or relax, though she has had pellets and sometimes banana. I have tried…[Read more]

I was very nervous about getting my bunny spayed but I did it because the risk of getting cancer and dying from it was more than the risk of dying when getting spayed. 60 % of unspayed female rabbits get it over the age of 3 and 80 % by the time they are 6. Of course, there is always a chance of them not getting it but it is very unlikely. I don’t…[Read more]

Bam replied to the topic Meloxicam dosage stasis in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 10 months ago

It seems like a very low dose. 0.1 ml ×0.5 mg/ml loxicom gives a dose of 0.05 mg meloxicam.

Normal dose for a rabbit is 0.3-06 mg meloxicam (the active substance in loxicom) per kilo body weight. For severe pain you can give up to 1.5 mg per kilo body weight and day.

This is from Medirabbit, a trusted source:

Perhaps the pharmacy might  h…[Read more]

My rabbit was diagnosed with Stasis. She was prescribed Loxicom 0.5mg/ml for pain. The dosage is supposed to be 0.2ml twice daily. I’ve been giving it to her since yesterday and she’s still in a lot of pain. I tried calling my vet but he’s not working today. Is it safe to increase the dosage and if so how would I do that?

I guess I’ll give it a try in the near future..  with the fifth session in trying to take steps back and reducing time they spent near each other hasn’t really made a difference.. neither does changing locations.. they do the same thing.. nipping, biting, scuffles, chasing.. there was Shadow trying to hump that could’ve lead to improvements but I…[Read more]

As LBJ says, rabbits can grunt. I had a very vocal bun who would grunt if displeased.

Yeah the doctor said we could do an xray but it would be 80 dollars and thats kinda expensive so she said after 10 days we will see how the bunny is doing and go from there. I asked her about uterine cancer or anything like that and she said that is not very likely but we plan to spay her soon just in case!

That must be some UTI if there were blood clots. Did they do any additional tests to make sure the blood isn’t coming from her uterus? An infection inside the uterus can cause blood clots too, which is what I mentioned earlier as a possibility.

It looks like calcium to me. Calcium in rabbit pee is normal. They readily excrete excess calcium through their urine.

Humans are not very good at assessing risk. Take fear of flying as an example. So it is understandable that you might feel like it is “risky” either way. But as Dana pointed out… the risk of cancer is a MUCH higher than the chance of a complication due to spaying. Is it possible for a rabbit to die during surgery? Yes, it is possible. But with…[Read more]
