Oat flour is OK. It is used in commercially-produced biscuit type treats and supplements. So I wouldn’t be concerned about it. Pumpkin (the fleshy part) is safe for bunnies. You just want to avoid pumpkin pie filling since that has sugar added.

Sorry to post a day later! Anyway, Morgan from SincerelyCinnabun on YouTube (and her website) loves BoBunnysBuffet (on etsy.com)’s treats and I was gonna order wome but I saw that oat flour is one of the ingredients and I was wondering if that’s actually safe for bunnies. I don’t think Morgan would purposely hurt Cinnabun and I think she’s done…[Read more]

She was also prescribed antepsin for a ” maybe ulcer” by the previous vet. There were no diet changes aside from a tiny bit of timothy hay that made her a bit gassy but she got better very quickly. She stared to get really bad right after she started taking the antepsin. I stopped giving it to her once I realized that.

    She’s a bit better now, but…[Read more]

I do have a probiotic and she is getting it. It’s called Pro C I think. It actually took 4 vets to finally get my hands on one. That was the first thing I wanted to give her but you can only get it from an exotics vet here. It’s the same with oxbow critical care and everything else.

If I’m being honest the breeder didn’t seem to take great care…[Read more]

Thanks guys, it was certainly a wake up call, lol.

I’m glad to hear that Wick is doing well resuming his free roam time in short stints. That’s very positive and I’m sure he’s glad to be getting out and about again for a bit.

So I rang our rabbit specialist who dealt with Luna’s E.C. issues etc to try and book in for a vaccination for her and…[Read more]

I know it takes time.. I don’t know, I feel like I might’ve gotten my hopes up too high when others who pre-bonded in the same way for as long as I had had excellent results with their bondings, meanwhile mine don’t/haven’t progressed much.. or that I’m doing everything wrong..

I did try a larger space in trying the “free roam” bonding, but not much progress there either.. the one who was helping me with the process said they were “calmer,” but this was really due to having no steady footing and being in yet a new room they couldn’t care less for each other but would still pick on her. It was the same when I started out…[Read more]

Once I set her back up she is a little wobbly for a minute then she’s back to just the head tilt.

I also just read your post on reddit and just want to echo the reply you got that bonding takes time. An “easy” bond usually takes about 2 weeks of daily sessions on average, and hard ones can take months. My shortest bonding was about a week of 24/7 marathoning, and my longest was 4 months (with a 5 day marathon at the end). They were all worth…[Read more]

Try not to get too caught up in who is dominant and who is submissive. In my experience that usually tends to set things back, because usually in the end it’s pretty hard to tell, and they will come to some sort of agreement. Just focus on doing things that prevent fights. If petting helps, then I like to pet a lot. You are only in the 5th date…[Read more]

Yes.. I usually try to pet Zelda the most since she seems stressed out with Shadow picking on her.. but was told that he is determined to tell her he’s the boss and that she’s becoming submissive, hence why she doesn’t try anything.. I pet them both while they came up to me.. he nipped her a little bit there but ultimately ignored her.. then they…[Read more]

Have you tried petting them when they are near each other?

Is the new bunny spayed? If not, then you should pause sessions until after she’s spayed and her hormones have settled. If she is still truly a baby, that could also explain why she is just running away and intimidated by the other rabbits.

I think the bathtub sounds like a good plan. I wouldn’t open the cage though, that sounds like a recipe for disaster! They can be perfectly friendly through a barrier but then all heck breaks loose when that barrier is gone.

I tend to intervene more often and more quickly in the early dates, just to make sure to start things off on a good foot.…[Read more]

You could perhaps try giving her a probiotic (f ex benebac) to help her build a sturdy and diverse gut microbiota. Young rabbits may not have a sturdy and diverse population of all the various beneficial bacteria and yeasts that help the bun break down its food and take up the nutrients. This can happen if the bun was taken from the mother early…[Read more]

She is tiny but she has a huge personality!

Thank you for the advice! I’ll call the vet and talk to him. I’m just very worried about her. I’ve been giving her simethicone and massaging her belly. She’s ok for a bit, she eats like an adult bunny but then she gets gassy again and she presses her tummy to the floor. She doesn’t grind her teeth as…[Read more]

Oh, so shes so young and so very tiny! The vet seems to have put quite some thought into this, and I’d not change it without consulting that vet. He mustve had good reasons for describing such a tiny dose.

In case you think she’s bothered by gas, you could give her 0.5 ml simethicone baby gas drops. Its not taken up by the body, it only works…[Read more]

I got it from an emergency vet on sunday because I had to take her in. I was supposed to start giving it to her after I speak to my vet in Monday. The dosage was originally 0,6ml from what I’m seeing, twice daily but he changed it to 0,1ml because she’s only 16 weeks old and she only weights 500 grams. He actually said it  not to give more than…[Read more]
