    Hey all,

So my husband and I adopted a bonded pair of neutered rabbits from a rescue, two males who have been living together for at least six months. While the foster said they’d occasionally have tiffs, she said she’d never had to separate them or seen a big fight.

Well, last night, they got into it. I’d noticed the more submissive one…[Read more]

Can you post a pic? From what it sounds it seems like the vet would be a good idea but I don’t know because I can’t see what it looks like.

I get a lot of people telling me to put down water.. I tried this when I was at my parents house but they ignored it and spilled it everywhere.. I tried it again with a bigger space and they couldn’t care less either…

Same with food.. I put down hay during their second session of yesterday and didn’t care for it, they just made a mess with…[Read more]

Hi there… so long story short my rabbit got her nail snagged (they were trimmed appropriately, she just got stuck) and now it’s sticking out sideways, perpendicular to her paw. I can see the quick and can’t trim it down at all, it appears that the nail itself was almost pulled out a bit… I can tell it’s causing her pain and she can’t walk normal…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🙁

What a beautiful tribute, and beautiful bun!

Not that you could ever replace her, but I found a lot of comfort in fostering after Bertha passed away. I wasn’t ready to get another bunny, but knowing I was helping a rabbit in need helped me a lot with the pain of losing her.

There are probably as many opinions on how to bond rabbits as there are people. And there is not 1 single way that works for each pair, so finding a method that you are comfortable with and that you feel is safe for your rabbits is important.

I know with some of my pairs, I got really caught up in the very prominent advice online that said not to…[Read more]

I think it’s good you treated for coccidia just to be safe, I think the name of the game now with her is stability. Recovery from stasis can be slow in the adult rabbits, and it can take time for appropriate gut flora to develop. I know bene-bac is used for weaning orphaned cottontails, so you might try that specific probiotic as well.

    I would…[Read more]

Its difficult to say if its the Critical Care. Excessive protein can sometimes cause sticky poop, in sensitive individuals. At the same time, she is a growing bun and needs protein. Its not uncommon for young, healthy rabbits to leave extra cecotropes.

Recovery from stasis can be very slow and thus challenging for the human.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>I hope it’ll help her. She had a gas attack and she’s making mushy poops today morning as well. Also leaving some cecotropes, I wonder if that’s from the critical care? Could it be too rich for her? It was similar yesterday except she was way worse. Her poops go back to normal eventually after lots of massage and…[Read more]

If there is suspicion of an ulcer that could be why the vet prescribed the very low dose of loxicom. Antepsin is often prescribed for ulcers or to prevent ulcers in buns that are on high-ish doses of meloxicam – but if she took a turn for the worse when you gave it, I understand why you stopped. I had it prescribed for one of my buns, but I never…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for you loss. I’m sure Reese knew how much you loved her and crossed over knowing you did everything that you could. I just recently lost my Monty so I know the heartache you must be feeling right now. We also had him cremated so we are expecting him home soon.

I would definitely confine her and make things so she can’t accidentally hurt herself. It does sound like she is OK most of the time and just has these rolling episodes. If you’re not there though, I would worry about her losing her balance and hurting herself on something.
