The problem with the harlequin pattern is that it has been introduced into many breeds. I have see harlequin patterned Nethies and Holland lops. I’ve also see Rex bunnies with the harlequin pattern. Unfortunately, that means the presence of the pattern may not necessarily indicate breed.

I am very discouraged as they are doing so well side by side. Today they pretty much went for each other immediately. I don’t know if it’s still hopeful.

I don’t mind head-mounting in a bonded pair, but the concern in an unbonded pair is that someone could get a bite to the genitals. I like to spin the mounting bun around so they end up in the rear-mounting position. Then if the mounted bun wants to leave, I prevent the mounter from chasing.

I think it’s good to take things slowly given their history, so i would keep separating them whenever you can’t supervise for now. But that is all so great to hear 🙂

I was also going to suggest clicker training as a nice way to bond with her. Just like humans, bunnies have a wide range of what they like. I agree that she sounds like she trusts you a lot. Most of my buns have specific times when they would like pets, other times they are busy! lol
