I’ve been in the process of bonding my two rabbits- they’re both neutered/spayed and about 2 years old. They’re rescues and had been solo buns at previous (and crappy) owners homes. I’ve had them separated at my house for a number of months as I worked to clear up some health issues with them. My male rabbit has shown a lot of neutral/good signs d…[Read more]

No personal experience, but I wanted to say I’m sorry you are having to go through this. While reading your post, I was actually going to suggest treatment with a nebulizer. You’re right, it might help dislodge the gunk in her lungs. With “regular” pneumonia, treatment/recovery can last up to 12 weeks. I’m not sure what the timeline would be for…[Read more]

The rex gene is recessive, so they have to get two copies in order to have the rex fur. It looks like maybe two? of these bunnies have the rex fur and the others don’t. Sorry, the pictures are small. If they are from the same litter, then it’s likely that a standard rex was one of the parents and the other parent had “normal” fur, but carried the…[Read more]

I just got these lovelies from a lady down the road a bit from me. She told me that they were all papered standard rex rabbits when she got them but she has since lost the papers. I’m pretty new to rabbits so I’m definitely not sure if this looks like they are standard rex rabbits or not.

Hello,
When my boy was younger he typically didn’t prefer hay for the first year or two, he did eat it but just not too much of it. I found just swapping brands of Timothy hay helped as he seemed to get bored with the same.
Adding dried forage to his hay aslo helped.
The best thing to be honest I found was just to reduce his pellet intake to…[Read more]

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has a fussy bunny who refuses to eat hay!?!

I’ve tried all sorts of different types, but he just won’t eat any of them.

He has had teeth issues in the past, where his teeth have grown at different angles, and a recent vet check has sho…[Read more] -

I’m very sorry for your loss. It’s very hard to have to make that last decision. From what you describe, there’s no doubt you did the right thing. It’s the worst part of owning a pet, it’s when our love is really put to the test.
It sounds like maybe she had a stroke, and she might have had more than one stroke. As you know, having more than one…[Read more]

Hello everyone,
First time posting here. Desperately seeking some help, information, or experiences others have had for my bunny suffering from what we believe is Aspiration Pneumonia. Some background information:
My rabbit, Whimsy, had a choking incident while eating her pellets this past Thursday (10/28/21). She stopped mid eating, and began…[Read more]

Thank you for the answers and advice everyone ^_^ I’m really new to this, and never had to think about bonding because Breintje stayed super possessive of me after his neuter. He didn’t even mind if there was another rabbit in the room, as long as I didn’t touch it or give it attention. If I smelled of another rabbit he aggressively claimed me by…[Read more]

When I was bonding my rabbits, I took time to learn about the bunny I just got. Ollie doesn’t want cuddles, but my other bunny Cinnimon loves cuddling. After I bonded them Ollie actually was okay with being cuddled and petted sometimes. Cinnimon still cuddled but less than she did before… she only wanted to be cuddled before. Overall my bunny…[Read more]

I had to make a hard decision last week to euthanize my 12 year old bun, Oreo. She lived a great long life but it was not easy to say goodbye. We got her when she was still a young bun so she lived with us all her years. I have so much guilt knowing we chose to end her life. I wanted her to go on her own time, but her quality of life was just not…[Read more]
