Thanks for the ideas! I’ll try getting her up on a table. I used to be able to get her in a carrier, but I think she now associates it with the vet..So I will try the litter box idea.

Good point @LBJ10, or a private rehoming (not sure if there’s an equivalent of craigslist in the Netherlands)?

Oh, and an added tip, you might try training her to go into her litter box or a carrier, and then move her to the table that way. A lot of members have had success doing that to move their bunnies without having to pick them up.

One of my buns was also in the shelter for a long time (about 3 years) and hates being picked up and only tolerates the occasional nose rub. With her I only tend to groom her when she’s molting (she tends to have really big molts, all at once). I pick her up and put her on the table on a towel, and do a really deep grooming every few days during…[Read more]

I know it sounds terrible… but what about a breeder?

OK, well if he triggers are simply you entering her space and not something more specific, then I agree with the others. She may be feeling she needs to defend her entire area, which can be very stressful.

Yes, Bam is correct. Her explanation shows why this would be so difficult.

Wonderful! Competition helps in dogs that wont eat enough. Company is well-known to help horses – race horses that won’t eat, as a rule eat a lot more if they get a goat or rabbit a friend. 🙂

It is difficult to get the azitromycin correct.
Could you ask to buy azitromycin for a small child? The recommended dose for a child would be 30 mg/kilo body weight. Sometimes a pharmacy can make a suspension of an adult-dose med so it gets the correct strenght for a child. I do realize that it could be pretty difficult to ask this in Spanish…[Read more]

Hey folks,
I recently adopted a short-haired bunny from the local shelter. I have had her for about a month now. Not sure about breed, but she has short hair and is about 5lbs. The vet thinks she is about 1yr old. She was spayed shortly after I took her home, and is now fully recovered. She had been at the shelter for a long time (~6 months)…[Read more]

Hmm… this would be more difficult to do. Each tablet would be 10 doses if you did 50mg. You would have to dissolve that in water and then divide it up into 10 doses. I’ll warn you, azithromycin tastes REALLY bad. Most vets try to disguise the taste with flavored syrup.

Let’s see, 1mL would contain 1.5mg, right? And she weighs 1.34kg?
In order to get, 1mg… then yes, it would be 0.9mL total. If split into two doses, that would be 0.45mL.

DanaNM replied to the topic Female 'spraying' male in the forum BONDING 4 years, 9 months ago
This totally due to his hormones and the fact that they aren’t bonded yet. Things should get better once he is neutered and his hormones have settled, and then even better once they are fully bonded. It is very very difficult for a stable bond to form when one rabbit is not castrated, so for now I would completely stop having them interact. Living…[Read more]

Spay/Neuter
Female Flemish Giant (Peanut) is spayed, male Lionhead (Rocky) is not neutered
Spayed at 6 months old (14 months ago)
We acquired Rocky from my daughter’s friend who didn’t have time for him. I wasn’t aware that he wasn’t neutered until after we took him in. The friend keeps saying she will come take him to get neutered, but then keeps…[Read more] -

Thank you so much Bam. I agree it seemed like a stroke. Or more than 1, like you suggested.
And thank you, those pictures were in her healthier younger days. 🙂
