I would wait to hear back from your vet, but Baytril tends to be pretty well tolerated, and I know with antibiotics it’s generally not good to skip a dose. So personally if I didn’t hear anything back I would give Max his next dose.
Can you syringe feed Ruby and/or give her some fluids while you are waiting to hear back from the vet tech? She may…[Read more]

Hi again,
Since the nose kept getting wet and looked a little green on the fur, I went ahead and started Baytril. Also my other rabbit seemed like her nose may have been wet and they both seemed to lick the air, like something was running into their mouth, (and just given their close proximity), I have been giving her the meds too. I have a…[Read more]

My bunny has been having digestive issues for a while. I made topics about it before. She’s currently recovering from stasis but the cause of it wasn’t entirely known. Now, I’m pretty sure it was connected to dysbiosis.
She’s ok through most of the day, she eats and poops normally but she gets bad gas episodes every day at around 10am, which is…[Read more]

My Fluffy is 1 year 4 months old mini lop. He was chubby and ate hay well when we adopt him 2 months ago from RSPCA. Recently around 3 weeks he refused eating hay but still has good appetite for greens and weeds from garden.
Vet found from X-ray that he has rotten teeth and infection on both sides of this mouths. Vet do not suggest to remove them…[Read more]

Yea itās under the skin š„ Ā ugh, now Iām worried. Harper is impossible to give medicine to so I wonder how this is gonna go. Iām gonna take pictures every day and if it gets any worse or bigger then Iām gonna try for a sooner appointment.

Is it underneath the skin? If so, then I agree with Wick. It’s possible a bite wound got infected or formed a small abscess.

I think it’s more likely that the head tilt is caused by EC. This doesn’t mean an antibiotic would not help though. It’s been documented that Enrofloxacin does have some effect on EC. It doesn’t cure it though. This is why you hear stories of a rabbit having an “ear infection”, they are treated with Enrofloxacin, they get better, and then once the…[Read more]

Update:
She has received 3 doses of Meloxicam thus far.. the inflammation in the eye looks waaaay better and she is actually hopping around exploring the house rather than hiding all day. Yay!! But the head tilt is still the same… no improvement. However, she is not falling over or as wobbly as she was before… she still follows the walls etc…[Read more]

This totally makes sense…
So far I have not tried any of the antibiotic… I wanted to introduce the meloxicam first and see the effects. This way I can know what drug is causing what etc.
This was the only form of azitromycin I could get. And the pharmacies here are more like convenience stores and less like a place where they can create a…[Read more]

Good point, wouldn’t want resistance. It’s so tough, the vet wanted to wait on antibiotics but his nose kept looking wet so I made the call to order them. I tried to call tonight and she is out of town for 2 weeks :/ So I suppose I’ll keep giving them (assuming they can give me more since I’ve wasted a bunch already) and halt bonding. Just gave…[Read more]

Hmmm, yeah i can’t really advise on the meds, but you should check with the vet. My concern would be that if there was an infection, it could become antibiotic resistant with only doing a partial course of meds.

Susanne replied to the topic (Bonded!) Ruby and Maxwell in the forum BONDING 4 years, 10 months ago
Yes, it’s a lot. I’m debating stopping the meds for Ruby. I don’t know if it’s worth how she is acting right now considering she probably doesn’t have symptoms (I thought under her nose was wet one day but not sure)
I could probably stop the side swaps and bring Maxwell down to a bigger area in the living to play each day..
For the dates, they…[Read more]

Honestly, I’d prob pause dates and side swaps while you handle their meds etc (but maybe keep doing litter box swaps). I think it just may help Ruby to have a bit less daily handling, andĀ I think it’s probably just a lot for all of you to handle! It’s generally not recommended to bond while either rabbit has a medical concern, so that would be…[Read more]

It’s possible that it was a nip that is infected, thus swelling though the actual entry wound has closed. It could also be something separate. For rabbits, sometimes we will have small lumps from an ingrown hair or other innocuous reasons, while also there being lumps for serious reasons that need treatment. Since it’s impossible to diagnose…[Read more]
