I just wanted to provide an update on Luna. Today was her 6 month ultrasound review. As usual she handled her stay at the vet like a champ (Apollo stayed home because he stresses). The vet said that there were no signs of progression of either her heart or kidney problem, which is fantastic. We just keep going with the current medication and do a…[Read more]

Thanks guys, it really has been so stressful. I just can’t believe how quickly the agent turned on us, it was so disappointing.

I assume she is still eating? Is she spayed? If she isn’t spayed and a male is around, she could be having a false pregnancy. Assuming, of course, he has not had any physical contact with her (including being able to touch through the bars).

I have an 8 month old female rabbit who as of just last night started to destroy her cage shredding everything in it. She has also stopped eating as much as she usually does. She usually cant wait for me to feed her but she barely has touched her food. She has always been a moody girl as female rabbits are but her behavior is worrying me. I do…[Read more]

Firstly, don’t feel guilty at all about anything! I have been through the ringer matching up my various buns over the years and also dealing with chronically ill buns (including one that I was fostering to try to bond). I know it can be so heart breaking to return a bun after a failed attempt.
I wouldn’t have advised to try to bond with a…[Read more]

Personally, this falls under the “keep an eye on it” category for me, given her diet has gone through some changes lately, as long as her appetite for hay is good, she’s eating and producing normal cecals, and the cecals she’s leaving look healthy in general.
Sometimes overweight buns or buns with arthritis have trouble reaching their cecals so…[Read more]

Chewing on hard things can sometimes be associated with pain, weirdly enough, and can happen even when there is a molar issue. Chewing on wood and other hard surfaces uses just the front teeth, but chewing long strands of hay requires side to side chewing motion with the molars. I had one bunny would would become obsessed with digging and chewing…[Read more]

One weird thing I have noticed so far is licking walls and woods. He never did that before. Not sure whether its the cecal dysbiosis.

-Thanks in that case I will continue on critical care.
-He is on probiotics but is not helping.
-He is chewing hard surfaces, chewing his toys. I do not know if he has dental pain would he be able to chew on hard things. But you are right I should talk to the vet. He is eating very little hay.
-waiting for the stool result.

Yeah, grunting can mean different things depending on the context. From what you’re describing, it sounds like this may be hormonal in nature. He may be seeing you as a potential “mate”.
He is very cute in the video! Thank you for the update. I don’t think getting him a friend is a bad idea. But yes, they would both need to be neutered in order…[Read more]

Yep okay the smaller afternoon ones can be what you are describing.
But for the cecotropes no. I see when she eats her cecotropes throughout the day and it’s quite a lot haha. She doesnt eat them in toilet. She just eats hay and leaves one bigger pile of cecotrope like dropping and one smaller. It’s like you know small, moist poops clumped…[Read more]

Updates:
So we took the girl bun back to the rescue. Since their last fight, they both became pretty tense living side by side. The girl would binky and be active all day long with much rest and strangely she also became a little aggressive. She started to lunge and bite whoever got close to her litter box. She got me once since I did not expect…[Read more]

That’s really great! You’re welcome!
And I hear ya! I’ve bonded I think 5 pairs now (plus a failed trio and failed quad LOL) and every time is different (even when the same bunnies are involved), and it’s always nice to have an outside perspective!

Thanks for all your advice! It’s really helped relax me and know that things are going normally!
Even after having bonded a pair previously and one even being the same bunny 😂, there’s still lots to learn!
We had the most wonderful session today, Glenn initiated some grooming, only mounted once so he must have listened to Bella telling off…[Read more]

Yes.. June’s episode was particularly bad, terrible sore thoat and and a fever for 4 or 5 days in a row. Not fun. Better than chronic allergies though. I guess I should just ditch the mystery hay just in case. I feel bad though because the bunnies love it. Oh well.

Ugh I’m sorry. 🙁 I know there are so many colds and flus going around. Although on the bright side, having an allergy forever would be pretty annoying to deal with since you have bunnies!
If it does end up being allergies, you might try switching to orchard grass hay. Some people get pretty allergic to timothy but don’t react to orchard grass.
