Your question isn’t silly! Prices can really vary a lot from vet to vet. In my area, there are 2 vets that are 33mi. apart. One is $106 for a spay, one is $360! I would recommend checking out some other vets.

Neutering will increase his lifespan as well as help stop those behaviors. He probably won’t grow out of those behaves without the neuter. Some of the brattiness is probably due to not being neutered but it is hard to tell how much is due to hormones because it also depended on his personality. Personally, I would neuter him, I understand that it…[Read more]

It’s probably a silly question but I’m a newbie so I need advice. My bunny Louie is a devilish little charmer but his behaviors are escalating. He is 7 months old and his vet wants $320. to neuter him. That is a lot for us to pay right now so my question is… How much of his brattiness is due to harmons? If I wait a few months will he event…[Read more]

Hook and loop is just the generic name for velcro? I used self-adhesive vet wrap when my bun had sore hocks. I lined it with bunny fur. It must be a lot less hassle with little booties, please report back on how it goes!
When I wrapped my bun’s feet I had to make really sure that the fur I lined the bandage was all inside the wrap. Because if…[Read more]

Can you post some pictures of the poops you’re concerned about? Maybe a few intact and a few broken open?

well i am not so sure about that but my bunny had overgrown front teeth when she was young (1 month old) and got I it trimmed at the vet once she’s in my care and her front teeth has been doing fine till now,, i recently added more hay than usual so hopefully it helps wear it down or do you think I should just ask the vet to trim her back teeth…[Read more]

Just one more question. I have read that these normal sized moist poops could be from too much protein or sugar in the diet? But she doesn’t get any sugar treats, has Timothy hay, everyday leafy greens and low amount of pellets.
Could this also be just normal now?

The fight just took place last three weeks and then last week,,so far they only had some wounds which thankfully isn’t that bad but the fight was bad because when the first fight encountered, they were both on each other’s neck and the fight looks like a bunny tornado!,,also whenever they are side by side, both of my bunnies will first sniff each…[Read more]

I agree with Dana. It is ultimately impossible for us to diagnose anything online with a degree of certainty, but based on what you’re describing I’m reading about a rabbit who is having slightly smaller poops at regular times (which can be very normal, especially if they are getting reduced veggies/pellets in their schedule; less input = less…[Read more]

Sometimes buns will start shredding things a lot when they are in pain. How long has it been since she’s eaten? If it’s been more than 6 hours then you should try to get her to the vet. Can you give her a tummy rub and some simethicone? She could be having an episode of gas.

I pinged the other moderators on this, but my feeling is that as long as her poops overall look good and her other cecals are good (and she’s eating them) it probably isn’t a cause for concern.

I appreciate your responses, very helpful info.
I am going to talk to my vet about it tomorrow. I am not giving my bunny unnecessary visit to the vet at the moment. But if it’s the teeth I might have to take him to them. My exotic vet does not work every day.

Yes exactly everything what you have said. She eats her cecotropes a lot as I can see. And I’m with her almost whole day.
I mean she weights 2 kilograms, i can feel her ribs, legs everything.
Hmm but do you think I should do anything if it continues for a week or more? If nothing is wrong with the behavior. I went to GI stasis with her once so I…[Read more]

I have had a bun who had the tiniest dental spurs. He chewed cardboard frantically, then he stopped eating. The vets I had back then didnt think his teeth were the problem, but after 3 weeks of critical care they decided to burr his molars. A few days after that, he was back to eating like normal again.
Licking walls and other non-soft surfaces…[Read more]
