Sounds great! Sometimes I have a sneaky suspicion that vets that charge exorbitant fees for neuters/spays might not want to do those procedures. They don’t want to say that they can’t do them, but the price indicates that they’d rather not. In any case, high prices means they probably don’t neuter/spay very many buns, and it is of course always…[Read more]

Hmmm, have his teeth been checked? I had a bun with dental issues that drank TONS of water, probably to sooth his mouth.

I’m assuming his kidney function has been checked?

Drinking lots of water is not a bad thing in itself (most of us are trying to get our buns to drink more, and drinking after eating hay is also normal), but I think you’ll…[Read more]

I’m glad they are both doing well. Since they weren’t truly bonded they are probably happy to have some alone time. 🙂

I recommend reading over this info as a starting point:

And then happy to try to answer any questions that come up. 🙂

That’s great! Yes sometimes the more experienced vets have lower prices, so it’s true that cheap is not always bad!

Ah also they both don’t seem to miss each other at all I think?😭… I just spend time with both of them and it’s been weeks now and both of them seem fine…I mean my bunny,Dash( a mix angora) was really clingy and spoiled towards me and will always follow me whenever I go nowadays but Grey (chinchilla) seemed quiet for some reason like he prefers…[Read more]

She just hopped from toilet now so I managed to take the picture. This is what it is like. It was almost all together but I took it apart to see.

Omg I managed to make it. Here are pictures of the droppings. First are like cecotropes, she just was in the toilet and it happened again. Smaller normal droppings and one pile of cecotrope like.

Second is normal plus darker moist one. Hope you can see something on the photos.

@Ernesttherabbit Thank you for your answer. This is a really interesting topic! How lucky your bun is to have come to such understanding humans 🙂

This is however a quite old thread, and the original posters might not be active on the forums currently. I will close the thread, but please feel free to start a new topic on the subject, and/or just…[Read more]

Late answer, but rabbits can have OCD. However, what you are describing is normal rabbit behaviour. OCD in rabbits often has triggers such as stress or trauma.

Our rescue rabbit has OCD and it usually manifests as excessive grooming, obsessively licking his paws at least three times before he stands up, obsessive drinking rituals, and compulsive…[Read more]

I have a lovely rabbit named Ernest, he is quite old now, and within the last few months he has started drinking excessively. The original cause for this was a UTI that he had and was treated. However, the drinking continued.

He has had detailed urine samples and blood tests with no irregularities found and he is otherwise entirely healthy and…[Read more]

Cheap isn’t always a bad thing. I got my bunny spayed for only 90 dollars, by a very experienced person, rabbit surgery was all she did. You would just need to make sure that they are experienced.

Eureka!!!!!!  I did as some of you suggested and called one of our rabbit rescues who put me in touch with a vet.  If any of you live in the Phoenix metro area the name is Van Aken Pet Hospital.  They charge $145. for neutering and 215. for spaying.  They suggest a series of labs before the surgery which costs 74. but that is a choice.  Louie alre…[Read more]

Before we got the bunnies we did a little research and understood that getting them fixed was preferable so that has been the plan.  I just need time to figure out the money but Louie is already 7 almost 8 months old and Coconut is 9 months.  Our vet charges 320. to neuter and 450. to spay.  I just can’t afford that right now so I’m looking for ot…[Read more]
