Awww no need to apologize at all!

I know at the shelter I volunteered at there was usually a bit of a pulse of adoptions before Christmas. He is such a cutie I bet he will get adopted once he’s available (they may not even have him available yet since he’s not neutered?). In any case, you know what’s best for your family and I’m sure it will work…[Read more]

    Hi DanaNM,

Thank you for the story, I have read your post aloud to my partner and we have discussed the possibilities in lenght. We have made a list of pros and cons to see what would be the best choice for our own bunnies and Shaman as well, and unfortunately cons far outweighted the pros. We are afraid of bonding three of them, as we cannot…[Read more]

    Ah, yes Dana…

So, who else has ever turned up at the vet with hay in their hair, and didn’t notice that they were still wearing their slippers? 😳

I feel safe in sharing this here, because we’re all equally obsessed 😉

Rabbits have excellent hearing/smelling abilities, so it could be perceiving the other rabbit and/or something else completely. Ensure that your rabbit has places in the environment she can feel safe and secure and ideally, over time she will either habituate to whatever she is perceiving or what is triggering it will go away.

Hey guys! My bunny Tomato who is almost 1 years old started stomping her foot this morning and won’t stop. It’s happening about every 30 seconds or so. I’ve checked her food, water, litter and she has everything she needs. I tried petting her and giving her a treat which seemed to calm her down for a bit but she’s stomping again now. We brought…[Read more]

I think the most wonderful feeling is when you wake up to the sound of your sick bunny munching hay (especially wonderful if you’ve been sleeping on the floor next to said bun). <3

Hmmm, that is curious! But some buns just hold their weight more easily. And some vets really like to see bunnies very lean (it helps with their joints later in life). Also, bunnies’ metabolisms shift at that age and they can kind of round out a little.

The only things I can see that you might reduce are the Fibafirst stick and the pellets (even…[Read more]

Ah thanks Dana– I apologize for skim reading and overlooking that mention. Indeed, I do still think that hormones may still be at play if the neuter was recent, so I agree with your appraisal Dana!

I got a rubber broom recently and it’s been a GAME CHANGER. There are hand held and full size ones, highly recommend for any hay clean-up!

Caring for an ill bunny is so incredibly stressful. 🙁 I agree with Bam that not hovering will help you both. You are doing a great job with him, the supportive care required can be really exhausting. Just know that if you are getting food into him every 8 hours or so, he should be stable, so you can relax a bit in between his feedings (especially…[Read more]

You are being a wonderful bun owner. But you should absolutely stop hovering over him all the time when you’re home, or you risk making yourself sick too, from stress.

When I had a bun who was very poorly for about 5 weeks, I spent a lot of time in the same room as him, but without interacting directly so much, unless he initiated it, or it was…[Read more]

@Wick I think the OP mentioned they are castrated? @Rit how long ago was Snowball neutered (the term for castrating in male animals is neutering, spaying is for females)? And how long have you had them?

Since Snowball is only 5 months, i suspect that Wick&Fable is correct, likely there are some hormonal fluctuations after Snowball’s neuter that…[Read more]

I will address your question/concern, and also acknowledge that I am against the notion of taking a rabbit out for walks on a leash. If he is getting ample free-roam time inside, there is no need to bring him outside where more things are out of your control and more risks are there for your rabbit. If you live in the United States, please note…[Read more]

It is likely because of your 5mo Snowball– what they had was a baby bond, which is also known as the false bond. A baby bond involves at least one young rabbit and essentially the bond is held together by the fact that the young rabbit is not yet experiencing hormonal urges, therefore the rabbits are able to get along. Now that Snowball is…[Read more]

Ongoing issues: 2 days ago I gave him a few pellets just to make him eat. But his mushy poop became more mushy and pasty. I stopped that. I am still feeding him critical care and vege, little hay.

I am feeling anxious and having caregiver stress, is there any way I could make myself a little calmer and less anxious while taking care of him. I…[Read more]
