so I’m continuing my old thread because it wouldn’t let me upload more pictures. I wanted to see if Winters feet have progressed and it looks like they are getting worse? Especially the right foot? It looks almost bigger and swollen..
now I’m at a loss and I don’t know what else I could possibly be doing.. does anybody have any advice? Because…[Read more]

She can, I’ve tried a litter box with a high rim that was hooded, didn’t work, I tried those same boxes without the hood, still no. Now I bought low rim hooded and she still pees. But I have doubts it’s because she can reach the hay because she also pees beside, behind and right on the corner of the carpet almost 2 feet away from the litter boxes.…[Read more]

I am thinking about switching my rabbits from paper bedding to tractor supply horse pellets but I am thinking that it might be a little rough on their paws especially since my cinnibunny doesn’t have a lot of fur on her paws ( just enough to make it hard to clip her nails ).

LOL @ baby bunnies not having great instincts, I’m so happy mine survived that phase of bravery, it was terrible but yes @ the quietness!!! I always have a fan on as white noise, when it’s too quiet, my bunny jumps at every sound.

When something scares her, she’s usually jumpy for a while, so I talk to her before I get up or when I’m walking…[Read more]

Hello, thanks so much for taking the time to answer!

So her daily diet consists of hay (Timothy hay, it’s available to her at all times) and twice a day I give her extra hay + veggies (an assortment of dark leafy greens) + pellets (Oxbow brand). Her fur is super soft but not shiny! Like I said, she enjoys cuddling and eating food. She hasn’t los…[Read more]

So for anybody whose interested- Harper has a trichoblastoma. A benign tumour that is slow growing and doesn’t typically spread.

The vet wants $1075.00 CAD to remove it. Which I am not going to do, I will be monitoring it instead. He is turning 7 in December, they did mention there is a risk with surgery due to his age and being put under a…[Read more]

As weird as it sounds, sometimes restricting a bun’s space for part of the day can make them more active the rest of the day. So you could pen her while she normally sleeps, and then during active hours of the day (like morning and evening), open the pen to let her roam around. Usually the bun will run around exploring more when you do this.

Its not really safe to take her outside when RVHD is spreading. Hopefully you’ll be able to get the vaccine eventually, but in many places in the USA, that’s still in the future. Outside time has other hazards as well, unless you have a completely fenced-in garden and no (or very few) birds of pray in your area.

In order to activate your bun, you…[Read more]

    Hello,

My bunny just came back home from a vet visit and she needs more exercise. She is free roam but lazy. Any ideas how to get her moving? Is it safe for me to take her outside on walks with RHDV2 spreading?

    Thank You.

Alternating between different types of hay can encourage buns to est more hay. Even alternating between different brands or cuts can help make a bun more interested. Variation also means the bun gets a broader spectrum of nutrients than if they eat the same hay all the time.

I agree with Dana that dental health is worth looking into. Nethies have…[Read more]

You can give her probiotics, a type of supplement that adds and helps the growth of good gut microbes. It might be possible for you to order Benebac from abroad, in case your country doesnt sell it in stores or online. Benebac has some of the bacteria that young rabbits might be lacking in if they have been weaned too young. It’s sold in the very…[Read more]

Hello, I’m really worried about the health of my bunny. Her name is Peanut and she’s around six months old. She was about a month old when I got her. Her poops have always been glossy, large, dark brown and wet. They frequently come out in large clumps and I don’t know what to do/how to treat it. She also has a grumbly tummy from time to time.…[Read more]

Hi thank you for responding. I will ask my vet about that and yes, they are fine according to two vets I have taken her to. I make sure she eats a lot of hay to help with that problem too

Can she access hay from outside the box? I had one bun that I had to be very careful with hay rack placement, because she would sit outside the box and eat hay, and just pee where she was.

Aww, I’m sorry! But I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. Baby bunnies don’t have great instincts, and when they start to get some adult bunny brains they can seem a bit more fearful.

Bunnies also can be overwhelmed by having too much space at first, because they feel they don’t have a safe space to retreat to. You might try keeping him in…[Read more]
