Can you give a better picture of the timeline of events and his diet and medications? I’m just not sure of the timings of things.

Recovery from stasis can be pretty slow, so it can be important to continue supportive care until the bun is back to normal. If he isn’t eating hay normally, you should be syringe feeding critical care to make sure…[Read more]

Hmmm, I don’t think shredded wheat would be good for buns lacking access to hay although it’s probably an OK occasional treat. Although it’s high fiber relative to a dog’s carnivore diet, it’s high starch relative to grass (an herbivore’s diet).

In a case where hay is hard to come by, I think a variety of natural forage would probably be the best…[Read more]

When I had to give pen-g injections to one from a bonded pair I never separated them (but caveat that the other bun didn’t do much of the grooming in the pair). If it’s injected properly there really shouldn’t be any coming out. I think trimming the hair is a good idea if it helps you see. I think separating for that long is pretty…[Read more]

P.s whenever they get to interact with other other,my rabbit (dash) seemed to aim at my other rabbit’s neck! (grey)

What does this normally mean? I didn’t let dash do anything to grey as I was holding him..so he wasn’t practically free..to do anything to the other rabbit..also when dash aimed at the neck, grey seemed to be bowing his head down..

Okay if the fights become worse/often I will do that. As for my dad not wanting them doing that, I don’t know he doesn’t say.

If this humping is new, the fighting is likely a sign that this new behavior is challenging the relationship dynamic they settled on earlier. If it gets more frequent with nips/lunges/aggression, I recommend going back to some bonding in neutral so they can work out the dynamic again in a more safe controlled environment.

The humping is not at…[Read more]

I have seen Ollie now three times go at cinnimon really quick, why are they fighting? Cinnimon gets over it pretty quick but still.

    Hello,

I have posted recently regarding bonding, I thought I would create a new post as my last one is a little old now.

    Spay

Both bunnies are neutered and spayed. Glenn is my og bunny, he’s now 4.5 yrs and neutered since about 9mo.

Bella is my recent rescue, she is a sweet and shy soul who is about 4-5 yrs and she was spayed by the rescue in…[Read more]

Yes you must get her to the vet immediately. Until then, keep her in a one-level, restricted space to limit her movement so any injuries do not get aggravated. Make sure to clean her litterbox and area to lessen potential infections. I’d lay out the buffet of fresh hay, some pellets, etc so she can eat and keep her gut moving.

My rabbit had a run in with my dog who is very prey driven. Luckily he didn’t hurt her but as she escaped, I think she cut herself on the metal bars of her cage. She was bleeding under her genital area where her tail starts but I’ve been cleaning it gently with warm water and the bleeding has stopped. She’s been able to poop but her pee is light…[Read more]

This may seem… odd, but I am just wondering about how legitimate of a concern penicillin coming out actually is. For example, the rabbit itself (not even the bond mate) can simply reach back and groom the spot. When I gave my rabbit injections daily for 3 weeks, the vet never mentioned keeping an eye out about it… Without hurting your rabbit,…[Read more]

I grow lettuce every summer and I keep giving the bolted stems and leaves and flowers to my buns. I’ve never given the roots though, but I cant find any mention hat they’re toxic.

I’ve found bolted lettuce to be more popular than regular leafy lettuce with my buns. Its way too bitter for a human to be interested, but buns seem to really like…[Read more]

I purchased an AeroGarden indoor garden to grow fresh lettuce for my 10 lb Ginger.
Store produce is not consistent these days.

The first crop was mixed heritage greens, which she has loved.
I am ready to remove the first crop and start a new batch of the classics (romaine, red, green, etc.)

The lettuces bolted after awhile but continued to…[Read more]

I’ve been doing her meds in the morning, then keeping them separated during the day for about 5-6 hours while I’m in class, and let them spend the evening and night together. I’m locking her in the pen and letting Mordecai have free run of the rest of the room. They seem to be okay with that. I feel anxious even doing that and am obsessive about…[Read more]
