Thanks for the suggestions.
We’re actually using two low-sided litter boxes for him so we don’t think entry is a particular issue. Also because he’s older, we’ve been giving him joint supplements as advised by his vet. He’s a very fluffy long hair bun so matting on his underside can be an issue and since becoming older, he’s not doing as good of…[Read more]

Hmm… would Benadryl help? It’s hard to know if this is an allergic reaction or a systemic reaction where they develop symptoms similar to the disease. Which vaccine was it?

He might be having some arthritis that makes him less likely to jump into the box. There are some low-sided litter boxes for cats that I’ve had good luck with. I’ve also seen people use jelly roll pans or lunch trays as litter “boxes” for senior and disabled buns.
You should also discuss with your vet, some senior buns do well with some daily…[Read more]

Yay this makes me happy! I ordered mine from the exact same seller.
Have you seen a noticeable difference with your bun wearing the socks? 😛

Hi there,
My senior rabbit Sylvester has been going downhill with his litter box habits. He still primarily uses his litter box for peeing and pooping but the instances of him pooping and peeing outside of the box have increased significantly. We think this is due to his age as he is approaching 10 years old in December but it also seems to have…[Read more]

You could perhaps put cold compresses on the ears, to try and get the itch down? Not ice cold and only for a few minutes at a time.

MooseMouse replied to the topic New brand of hay, bun won't eat it in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 9 months ago
Oh! i did this too once and bought a 20lb box of hay that my guys didn’t like. I was able to get them to eat it over time by fluffing it around in a box of their prefered hay so their feeder would be 2/3 hay they like and 1/3 hay they didn’t care for. It was a slow process but eventually they ate it all

What a naughty girl! But glad to hear she’s eating and obviously feeling well enough for some shenanigans!

My senior bun, Bun Jovi, has always tended to be an obsessive mounter during dates too. It settles down over time! One thing that helped with him was adding some neutral tunnels and obstacles (like a box open on two sides) to the bonding area to allow the other bun to have an escape route, assuming your bonding area is large enough.
If…[Read more]

My bunny is eating normally and even passing urine and pooping. The only problem is that his eyes are red and won’t stop itching his ears. Unfortunately in my country we only have 1 vet open for emergencies and they don’t specialize in rabbits. When I called they told me it this normal but I am still very worried.

I agree with GlennTheLionhead, the normal side effects are mild lethargy and maybe some soreness (some buns will favor one front paw for a bit), that should resolve within 24 hours. My buns all were just a bit “quiet” the day of their shots, but normal the next day and ate normally etc. If you are seeing a lot of itching and swelling you should…[Read more]

And yes, “free choice” means the pellets are available all the time. There is a bit more info on this in that article I linked. There are some brands that are formulated to be fed this way, or people will just use their usual pellets. With two bunnies, it may be a bit tricky, but you could possible separate them briefly a few times a day to allow…[Read more]

It is possible that it could be coccidea, so it’s good that you are treating for it. Many (most probably) rabbits carry the parasite and don’t show symptoms (especially if they are adult). Sometimes a stressful event can trigger symptoms and require treatment. Since she has some symptoms and tested positive it’s good that you are treating for it.…[Read more]

Hey,
I am in the UK and have been through vaccination for myxomatosis and RVHD 1&2 several times with 3 different rabbits and I can’t say that any have ever shown any symptoms of a reaction after a vaccination. Not meaning to worry you, but just wanted to be clear that symptoms after vaccinations at least in the UK should not be anything more…[Read more]

Unfortunately the vet is closed at this time and the only vet open for emergencies does not specialize in rabbits and said it was normal
