@GipsAndLenn Welcome to BB! This is an old thread so I’m going to lock it to avoid confusion!

Thanks for sharing @BZOO , that sounds soooo incredibly stressful!

Thankfully I’ve gotten updates that all the buns are doing well. Cooper and Bonnie were bickering a bit at first but she says they’ve calmed down now. Bun Jovi and Myra are also doing great and I’ll probably go visit them in a week or two (and bring over a bale of hay).

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding issues in the forum BONDING 4 years, 9 months ago

I am not personally a fan of the microspace method, as it tends to force the rabbits together and seems to have a lot of issues when expanding to a larger space (in my experience moderating here on the forum). Especially given your history of them, they need to be able to fully express normal behaviors to ensure that their bond is stable in a…[Read more]

I think since you are working to break a cycle of fighting, I would probably just stick to short stressing-only sessions for a couple days, before trying to do a small space session after. OR, you could do a stress-sandwich, where you walk them around in a carrier for a few minutes, do a some minutes of no stress, then a few more minutes walking…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic *BONDED* Scared bun, stubborn bun and stressed human in the forum BONDING 4 years, 9 months ago

Not sure if I’ve said this here, but I am convinced that both buns think they are dominant in a lot of pairs, and it’s rare to find a completely submissive bun. So don’t worry about that! Try not to overthink things 😉

They sound like they are doing really well to me, because they are communicating without fighting! And they are snuggling!

    I…[Read more]

Can you put a heavy ceramic tile over the problem area? That worked for me. I got the largest one I could from the hardware store and it was too big for them to move, and my bun gave up on that area.

Sorry but I had to chuckle a little at the picture with litter boxes in all corners, because I have been there!

So, they have only been bonded a week, and it can take some time for things to get back to normal. I’ve noticed with my pairs there can be an uptick in marking in the first couple weeks after bonding, almost as though they are claiming…[Read more]

I’m very sorry for your loss.

Any rabbit who has dozens of masses does not have a good prognosis unfortunately. The leg issue was most likely a consequence from the masses, which probably interfered with the spine and nerves. Rather than masses or legs, it probably all was a natural consequence of this underlying issue; not one or another. I…[Read more]

I’m also confused about the antifungal and antibiotic, perhaps they are trying to correct for an imbalance caused by the initial treatment? But if the antibiotic is for pneumonia that is important.

I agree with getting a completely independent second opinion from a rabbit savvy vet.

Hmmmm, loss of litter box habits can be related to not feeling well, so maybe he’s still having some GI discomfort along with the soft poops.  Are his poops always soft? Do you notice normal poops mixed in, or all they are mushy? Is he eating plenty of hay?

Our dwarf hotot just passed. Not sure of her age, but we had her for 5 years.

2 weeks ago she started favoring her right hind leg. The leg wasn’t limp and it seemed like she still had full use of it when she needed. She would occasionally thump with that foot and remained mobile. It seemed like her leg was gradually improving. She was also…[Read more]

Thank you  for your kind words, Milo was my baby for sure. Writing in detail was with some difficulty but I think was also of some therapy for me, his passing came as a massive shock, I wasn’t sure what to hope for or expect I just tried to stay optimistic everyday and just hope. I have attached some images of Milo that are some of my favorites.…[Read more]

Yeah, this is confusing. The only medication my vet gave my bun when she had GI stasis was for her liver, because it was enlarged. She put her on IV fluids and gave her simethicone for gas and painkillers. That’s all. I don’t know why the vet is giving all these antibiotics – but again, I’m no expert. Sometimes a vet can be an exotic but not…[Read more]

Thank you both for your responses. I checked out the link you gave Wick & Fable. The dosage I was given was around what I think it’s supposed to be. He was given 30mg and he weighs 1.74kg. I read it was around 18mg/kg?

And LBJ10, thanks. I will give it a week or two and see how it goes 🙂

It could be good idea to get a second opinion.

I dont know any vet that treats stasis with antibiotics, unless they believe that the cause of the stasis is a bacterial infection.

Hey Bam, thanks for reply. I am waiting for another second vet appointment.

So my vet consulted a specialist 2 weeks ago. Based on that assessment without seeing my bunny they told me to start antifungal as there is small growth of cyniclomyces(which is a normal gut bacteria in rabbit). My bunny started to have more watery stool after starting…[Read more]

If pneumonia is suspected, you must treat that first of all. That can’t wait. Pneumonia is very serious in rabbits.
