I had a fur puller. He would pull his fur any time he was stressed. So the vet could be right. But I do agree with Wick. It could be a sign of pain too, so you want to make sure to rule that out first.

So, most bunnies really hate being picked up, especially if it happens a lot. For the best bonding with your bunnies, it would be ideal for their pens to be connected to their play area where you could sit on the floor and allow them to come over to you on their own. I agree with Wick that you shouldn’t use the bonding area for this, as you want…[Read more]

3-4 week recovery is along time for having stasis that often. I’m so sorry you are going through that, it sounds so stressful for you and horrible for her. ๐Ÿ™

I am also curious about the diet. Some bunnies are really sensitive to pellets and veggies in general and do best on a hay-only diet (a variety of hays is provided to make sure nutritional…[Read more]

Sorry you have not received any replies! it is a good question and something all owners would like to know…. how do we bond with our rabbit friends?!

There are some really helpful guides/resources here: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Behavior_FAQ#How_do_I_make_my_bunny_like_me.3F

Do not use the area you plan to do future bonding sessions in as a…[Read more]

I agree that talking about alfalfa-based pellets or hay can be a strategy for weight gain.

This year, San Diego HRS’ Bunnyfest had a presentation on megacolon in rabbits (which is where I got the powerpoint slide from above). While the session recording is no longer available, I’ve uploaded the powerpoint here for you to download and look over–…[Read more]

Thank you for all the background info!

So first of all, don’t worry, mistakes happen! Even though there is so much info out there it is still a lot to take in, with lots of conflicting info. I literally did the same exact thing with my first pair. Oops! I did eventually bond them and they were extremely happy together (they are the pair in my…[Read more]

Did you report this to the vet? It can be a sign of pain or something internally is happening from the surgical site that needs assessment and needs to be addressed. Never hesitate to call your vet to report behaviors you notice after a procedure.

Potentially separately is that he is molting in that area naturally so fur coming off in abundance…[Read more]

A neutral space is place neither of them have been– the common area is semi-neutral, so it is not neutral at all and it was a misstep to try initial meetings there. The transition from neutral to semi-neutral is typically only done after rabbits can spend 24hrs+ in neutral territory without issue. That being said, it’s not necessary an…[Read more]

Sorry Sweetie is still losing muscle, unfortunately that is one of the hallmarks of megacolon. ๐Ÿ™

Have you tried giving critical care without the soy protein added in? Maybe it’s the added protein that’s upsetting her stomach? You could also ask your vet about feeding extra alfalfa or switching to a young rabbit pellet. I’ve also seen megacolon…[Read more]

Turbo got neutered on Wednesday and upon picking him up from the vet we noticed he had pulled some of his chest fur, assuming from stress. He is now back to his normal self, super happy, but occasionally we have seen him pulling at that same spot. Any thoughts on what this might be because of????

Have you tried any diet changes to see if it helps? For instance, while many foods are rabbit-safe, some rabbits hold sensitivities that others don’t. It could be that your rabbit’s GI is disagreeable to Sherwood pellets and/or the particular veggies you provide.

Also, hearing that it occurs 3-4 times per year makes me think of molting — if fur…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Should I get my female rabbit spayed? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 8 months ago

As long as you have a quality rabbit-experienced exotic vet whom you trust to do spays, I 100% recommend having your female rabbit spayed. It is clear you care about her quality of life, and getting her spayed is the #1 preventative measure you can do to prevent uterine cancer. Intact female rabbit reproductive systems are constantly undergoing…[Read more]

Where are they “free”? Can you explain what you’ve been doing exactly this past week? Be sure any short date sessions you’re doing is in completely neutral space (ex. bathtub) and I’d keep the dates short for now, based on the history. Remember to look at the bonding information we have: https://binkybunny.com/infocategory/bonding/

    Spay/Neuter
    Are your bunnies spayed/neutered? Yes
If so, for how long (for each)? Male neutered for 6 months, female for 1 month

    Housing
Please describe your bunniesโ€™ current housing set-up (living together, as neighbors, etc.).

They are neighbors in adjacent 4×4 exercise pens with a shared wall. They have been there since we got the female at a…[Read more]

    Hi guys.

This is really hard for me to write. Iโ€™m at a loss at what to do. My rabbit (3 year old female Holland lop) gets GI stasis multiple times a year (3-4 times) and it usually last 3-4 weeks until she is better. In the last 3 months she has gotten GI stasis 3 times. I go to a rabbit savvy vet who says I am feeding and doing everything r…[Read more]

I have a similar situation, with 2 unspayed females living outdoors. Unfortunately, they couldn’t live inside even if they were perfectly litter trained, just because they shed to badly and my mother cooks for other people outside our household. Litter trained or not, though, they are allowed to play in our basement, as long as I clean up after…[Read more]

It’s been a few weeks and I’ve been so busy with taking care of Sweetie, working and studying for finals that I have’t gotten the chance to check this page. Which I have to say is one of the best websites I’ve ever been a part of; there is so much support and love!!

I have two rabbits: One neutered male, and an unspayed female. The male (Gipsy)

Is very well litter trained/house trained (unfortunately they do live outside though 😥) The other one (the female) is not so well litter trained… Anyway I think that this is because Lennon is not spayed ( corrected me if I am wrong) and probably thinks she needs to…[Read more]
