We have had Nationwide rabbit insurance for slightly over a year, which was first offered as a supplemental benefit (not part of open enrollment) through my employer in late 2019; as I understand, we may receive a discount due to Nationwide’s agreement with my employer. We pay $11.99/month per rabbit (two rabbits) for what I understand is  a…[Read more]

I saw it. Its nothing like that. In my bunny its water/liquid, no jelly-like things and it’s not thick.

Thanks Bam. My 1st vet was asking me how was the mucus in my bunny and I said my bunny never had mucus. Now I can understand based on pictures their vet tech mentioned to the vet that my bunny has mucus and they prescribed metronidazole.

@prince dorian the bun: Birch leaves are fine for rabbits. The twigs and the wood are also fine, although some say you shouldn’t give birch twigs during winter because birch produces some sort of anti-freeze to protect itself when it’s cold. I don’t know if this is true though, but just to be safe it could be best to only give birch twigs during…[Read more]

    IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING!

We’re moving in! I have a perfect sized nook in my room for Jumping Jack’s pen, and it’s full of delicious baseboard…

You know what, I’m not gonna go and make this long, this will be short and sweet. I need an idea on how to protect the baseboard and doorway trim in my room from my rabbit, but still have it look nice.…[Read more]

If she’s pooping, producing cecotropes, and eating her cecotropes, I think bloat is pretty unlikely (just my 2 cents, I am not a vet of course).

Many rabbits don’t like critical care even when they are feeling food so syringe feeding is pretty standard stasis treatment.

If your rabbit’s stomach is hard, that is indicative of bloat and is a medical emergency that needs veterinary attention immediately. Often, owners believe they are feeling the stomach when they are actually feeling a different portion of the body. You can use this video for guidance on where to feel for the stomach in order to assess whether your…[Read more]

Make sure she keeps warm. She might like a warm waterbottle that she can snuggle up to – but she must have enough space so she can move away from the heat source if she doesn’t want it.

It is very good that she pooped and ate her cecotropes.

Initially, yes, it is normal not to put pressure on the paw; however, if it has been a couple hours and movement is not back to normal, I recommend going to a rabbit-vet to have it assessed. In the process of the nail coming off, there can be injury to the specific toe/finger/paw that can benefit from imaging assessment and pain medication.

My bunnys nail came off a bit but it did not bleed. She isn’t in any pain and she is doing binkys. She lays down relaxed still too. Is it normal for a Bunny to not put pressure on her back paw when this first happens?

Well she’s definitely not eating yet. Just eating her poops. It’s just her really hard stomach that is making me nervous. She is also refusing the critical care to I’m going to have to syringe feed her.

When you let them hop around more freely during the session, do they immediately go after each other aggressively? If you watch their ear and tail position that will give you some clues. Ears back and tail up is aggressive, so if you notice them moving towards each other with that ear position, you should interrupt them right away and start…[Read more]
