Thank you for the reply! Will saline drops from Walmart be okay? Or do I need to look for a certain concentration?
Also does it look like its pink eye or is it most likely the hay chaff?

Rabbits can get hay chaff in their eyes, and it can cause a runny eye. I’d start with rinsing the eye out with saline. Normal saline eye wash for human is perfect.
Hopefully this will get the eye back to normal. If not, if you and you’ve repeated the rinsing several times, a vet visit is highly recommended.

I looked at my bunny’s eye this morning and it was red, had some type of discharge on it that was sort of sticky and caused her fur to mat. The vet isn’t open until Monday:( Does anyone know what I can do? She’s eating and drinking and acting fine. Pictures below.

Its not wrong to plan it, but I think I undetstand the feeling. (Noone can ever be in your exact circumstances(,
It is the hardest decision we have to make, and we all wish w’ll never have to make it. And yet, we are the parents, we are the responsible party. We took it upon is to to carry this little life for as long as we possibly could -and…[Read more]

I know Link and Navi will enjoy her company. I hope you can hold both sadness and be at peace that while hard, this is the right decision. She has such an amazing owner supporting her across the rainbow bridge.

I can’t believe she’ll be joining Link and Navi in under 24 hours.

Scheduling it feels wrong. Deep down, I know it’s the right decision. I know she won’t/can’t recover from this and he quality of life will diminish quickly.
She’s been such an amazing companion.

Had so much love to give.

She would’ve been with us for 8 years in 4 weeks.

Thanks, DanaNM for taking the time to look into the pics.
I do not have pics from before his stasis. But it looked like 2 poops sticking together and dry. He was grooming a lot and slowly lost appetite. In two episodes I saw loose poop as I gave him sweet food 🙁 to make him eat. Even the day he had stasis he pooped but he was not eating and I…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Male and female intact bunny’s not mating in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 8 months ago
It’s honestly possible and even likely they have mated already, it can happen in a flash (even through cage bars), and once it’s happened they won’t keep trying…. Females can get pregnant as early as 12 weeks. You can check to see if your male has “dropped” as well.
I would stop letting them interact during play time at all. By the time you…[Read more]

Yeah it doesn’t show the dates.
Most of the pics do look like cecal dysbiosis to me.
The pic ending in 818 looks like normal cecotropes, so it’s good that he did produce some normal ones.
The last pic (# ending in 223) is starting to look a bit better in terms of being more formed. The mushy poop (pic # ending in 103) looks very close to…[Read more]

I am not sure whether you can see the dates. The last picture is from this morning. Yesterday he had mushy.

Bam replied to the topic Spayed bun mood changes in the forum BEHAVIOR 4 years, 8 months ago
In dogs there’s a thing called Ovarian Remnant Syndrom, where some ovarian tissue remains after a spay, and that’s enough for the dog to produce sex hormones. Since the uterus has been removed there’s no risk of pregnancy of course, but the hormones can, or rather are likely to, affect behavior and mood.
Do you know if your bun had a full…[Read more]

I am so very sorry, RetroSquid. This is the hardest decision to make. You tried so hard and things looked so promising for a while.
I had to make the same decision for my bun in June, I too had promised him that I wouldn’t put him through any more invasive procedures. I feel like he and I got 1.5 years extra together, but I always knew he was on…[Read more]

This guide has pictures of all different types of healthy and unhealthy poops: https://imgur.com/a/5N4lD#ra2RfjI
Liquid poop is not normal. Overall it sounds like your bun is having issues of cecal dysbiosis. Usually the recommendation is a hay-only diet, but the problem is that your bun is losing a lot of weight. When the cecum is not…[Read more]

In addition to Binkybunny’s RABBIT INFO section, Wabbitwiki has a great new rabbit owner primer page that’d be valuable to look at: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/New_Rabbit_Owner_Primer

You will generally never see cecotropes because rabbits eat them directly from their bottoms. For pictures of various types of poop, see here: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Rabbit_poop
If this is a recent diet change, I’d give him a little more time to see how it changes the poop consistency.
Can you post a picture of the liquidish poop or is…[Read more]

Sorry I have another question. I apologize.
I put him on hay only diet and little pellets(will slowly increase). I saw some good poop still soft but round. Intermittently I can also see some liquidish poop. Now does bunny produce cecotropes that are soft? I can’t differentiate his mushy cecotropes with soft stool.

Those are really great tips ParsleyBun! And oh man, I too made some mistakes with my first rabbits, I still feel awful about some of them. You also reminded me of some other tips for young bunnies.
Young rabbits need to have a source of alfalfa in their diet until they are about 7 months – a year old, but they don’t need it from both hay and…[Read more]

That’s really interesting! I’ve never experienced this. I have heard of “incomplete” neuters for male rabbits, where the thought is a few testicular cells are left behind, and it’s enough to trigger hormonal behavior. I wonder if something similar could happen with females? I really don’t know, I’m just speculating!
Does it happen to coincide…[Read more]
