okay so hello! recently,I just got off the phone with one of my friends and she asked me if female bunnies are great as pets but I can’t answer her properly due to the fact that I’ve never actually encountered with a female bunbun,,as rn I only have male buns! so what do you guys think? what was your experience adopting a female bun? also at what…[Read more]

Hello, my bunny has recently been through a lot. She just got over a bad case of GI. Before that she had an “upper respiratory infection.” I use quotation marks because I’m not sure if she was diagnosed properly (it was a new vet clinic, I don’t think I’ll be going back). She had a nose whistling problem, more so when she was excited about som…[Read more]

Thanks both for the info on water! Very useful and that rabbit wiki was useful too! I have been syringing her water the last two days, much of it she has just been dribbling out so I tried the spiking the water with a touch of apple juice method but didn’t really help.

She’s at the vets today going for an ultrasound so I am just anxiously waiting…[Read more]

I too want to make sure the amount of molt that is going on over here is normal. We’ve had our bun for a year this coming 1st week of January. When we adopted him he was barely losing any hair that time of year, but just this week (almost one year later) he is molting like CRAZY. The biggest shed we’ve had with him all year…to the point where it…[Read more]

MelM replied to the topic New brand of hay, bun won't eat it in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 7 months ago

Oohh boy this has happened to me a couple times, but I won’t make that mistake again LOL.  When we adopted our bun, he was already on Oxbow orchard grass and I thought to get him some nice local orchard. So I purchased a half bale and even after I thought he liked the sample I was given, he totally rejected it. Like others have mentioned, I have…[Read more]

It depends on the rabbit. Some are very picky when it comes to “good” hay and “bad” hay. It isn’t uncommon for them to pee on it, spread it all around, throw it on the floor, etc. while looking for that perfect piece. Your best bet would probably be to just top off the hay regularly. Hay that is spread around might still be eaten, but there is…[Read more]

You’re right, I guess it’s more that I wish I knew exactly what they needed to help them work through things faster. They are like different rabbits now in the downstairs room. They were so happy upstairs but I guess that was also part of the problem. The 95% of the time they weren’t worrying me though they seemed like they were getting closer……[Read more]

Hello all, I need some advice… Max is 15.5 lbs, mixed breed. His principal litter box, located in his stay pen, is an extra large hooded box (it’s a cat litter box). I purchased it before we adopted him. I think I should’ve gone with the large one but I wasn’t sure how big he would get. Anyways, I fill half up with bedding and the other half with…[Read more]

He sounds normal to me. You could try different types of toys. If he isn’t interested in chewing, he might enjoy tossing things.

Do you have a humidifier? Maybe that will help.

Yes, I would just find a recipe for homemade bunny “cookies” and just incorporate the hay into that.

I’ve seen some recipes floating around that use oat flour and canned pumpkin. Maybe you could mix them into a recipe like that?

so i’m stuck with a bunch of little hay bits at the bottom of my hay bin, my bun loves to eat these but they are difficult to give! i had the idea of covering some of his chew sticks with them but i’m not sure how to go about this? i thought to use honey but after reading how this was to sugar filled to give i decided not to😵‍💫any…

Rabbits rarely like being picked up so him running doesn’t mean he isn’t trusting of you it’s just his instincts kicking in! As for him not staying in your lap, I noticed my bun does it too! Personally I think that (depending on how you’re sitting) your lap isn’t a very stable place or your bunny feels like the are going to fall. I think that him…[Read more]
