Hmm… the white paw might be a clue. The Vienna gene might be mixed in there somehow. Beveren is not a common breed, but they are large and they do carry the Vienna gene. His main color is chestnut agouti, which is common in Flemmies.

Hi there,
Max is 9 months & weighs 15.5 lbs. The vet said she thinks he may be mixed Flemish because of his head shape? What do y’all think? If he is part Flemish, what may be the other part?
The fur on his tummy is long white. Is it standard for belly fur to be different than the rest of the fur on the body? I would take a pic of the t…[Read more]

Stealing food from each other usually isn’t a concern. Bunnies are weird and they will think whatever the other bunny is eating must be the good stuff. If nobody is losing weight because of it and there is no actual fighting, then I wouldn’t see a problem.
If you separate them, could you try giving Sage his first? Perhaps if he sees Bear doesn’t…[Read more]

Can a sneezing/coughing fit be caused by a new bag of hay/fur in the air from shedding? I got a new bag of Oxbow hay yesterday and it is much softer than the last bag that I had and it is in much smaller pieces. My bun also likes to stick his whole face into his hay container when he eats. I have a Ring camera in the room where my bunny free roams…[Read more]

Thank you for your reply! Turns out it was an abscess in her ear that I couldn’t see because she is a lop rabbit. The vet described her ear canal as bent straw and I can only see to the bend because I don’t have an ear scope ( I am trying to buy one). She has had surgery and I am hoping the abscess will not return. I am going to ask to up her…[Read more]

Hi everyone!
Bunnies: Bear (F, Senior) and Sage (M, 3ish)
Bear came from horrible living conditions for years and has a high food response, likely partially caused from that. With both pellets and greens. Sage was a feral boy who was found at around 6 months and was always more of a hay boy. He’s kind of picky with his greens and doesn’t care a…[Read more]

I have looked at petfinder, often they aren’t 100% up to date. One of my friends is a volunteer at the shelter and she usually gives me a heads up of eligible lady buns before they go public, but right now there aren’t really any single ladies in my area. The closest private rescue has a little girl, but she’s just a baby & not spayed yet. We…[Read more]

Hi all,
Some progress here! I know it’s been a long time, but my mom was at my place and we did a bonding session, without anyone but them in the bonding area. They did pretty well, only once in the beginning there was a potential fight that was defused. It lasted one hour without any further issues. So we figured to risk it a little and give…[Read more]

henry2809 replied to the topic Could this be coccidia or am I just overthinking? Help please! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 7 months ago
Absolutely! He seems totally fine today and I leave tomorrow afternoon, so I’m not super concerned at the moment. He usually sleeps during the day and doesn’t eat or poop much until 9 or 10 pm anyways and then he eats and poops throughout the night. The first time he did that I freaked out, but I think that’s just his routine!

I know exactly what you mean, it can be so stressful to leave buns with a pet sitter! But thankfully your sitter is a bunny-person!

That’s a great idea, thank you! This morning they were all perfect and round, which makes me feel better. Usually this would not worry me so much, but I won’t be home for 3 days, so I want to make sure he’s ok!

The oblong poops usually indicate two poops that got stuck together due to some GI slowing.
Adding in a tummy rub when you do his grooming could also help keep things moving along.

Oh gotcha! There are also a variety of herbs that can have various medicinal properties. They are also fragrant which can tempt a bun to eat.
I do think when a bun is completely refusing to eat, offering different veggies is a good strategy, even if the bun hasn’t had them before. Cilantro and green carrot tops are also really good ones, and my…[Read more]

That’s what I was thinking! Better out than in! Most of them were that weird oblong, oval shape, but there weren’t any thick strands of hair, so I guess that means that his GI tract is passing the hair like it’s supposed to! He HATES being brushed, but he definitely needs it. I got a good amount of hair off of him last night and this morni…[Read more]

Hmmm, have there been any changes in your household? Such as a recent move or new pets?
The other thing that can sometimes trigger things like this is a health change in one of the rabbits. Sometimes when one rabbit is ill it can trigger some dominance behaviors in the bond.
