My rabbit’s 4 years old and I’ve started to notice something recently about his eating habits.
He would usually munch on his pellets a lot than he would munch on his hay. However, nowadays he does not consume his pellets as much and prefers to eat his hay more.
Is this something I should be concerned about? I’ve observed him for a few days to se…[Read more]

It’s been a very scary week here. Luna became very unwell very suddenly and it was a struggle to get her the care she needed. I’ve surmised the week below leading to where we are today.
-Tuesday night, refused pellets, painful, very small poops (last poops), would eat hand fed grass or sometimes hay.
-Wednesday morning I rang and made an…[Read more]

Just wanted to post an update.
I reached to my vet, and she also said it sounds like adrenal issue. She is going to take a blood test for the hormones this Sunday, and then see if levels are elevated. She said it can be treated surgically (by removing adrenal gland, but only 1 side can be removed, other is too close to some major vein) or by…[Read more] -

You can often break up the mats (aside from trimming) if you pull on the sides of them. If there really are tons of them it may be easiest to just trim them all and start fresh, but if you just gradually work on them hopefully you can make progress! If they are really close to the skin it probably would be best to wait till the fur grows out a bit…[Read more]

Hey everyone!
I hope you have all been doing well. 🙂
This week, we adopted a new bunny, a 2 year old fuzzy lop. The shelter he came from said he had come from a neglect situation and had severe mats in his fur. They removed/shaved the worst of them (poor thing has giant bald patches) during his neuter. However, there are still some smaller ones…[Read more]

It’s hard to see in the picture. Is it a scab that is close to the skin? Or does it protrude? It almost looks like a keratinized papilloma… but it’s hard to tell from the picture.

Do you see any “dandruff” or flakiness around the scab or at the nape of his neck or base of tail?
If not, Id just keep an eye and have a look at it daily. As long as its dry and doesn’t increase in size or the skin becomes very red around it, this will probably heal nicely without intervention.
If you see dandruff/skin flakes and/or see your…[Read more]

Yes they are caged side by side I just hope she feels better soon, I’ve gotten her lots of new treats and toys but she seems sad still , I’m hoping that maybe some time on her own will help her feel rested

I do think it is important to get her spayed before you consider them fully bonded. Aside from the cancer risk (which is close to 75% by age 4 and goes up after that), the hormonal fluctuations that she will go through can trigger issues with the bond. The male might mount her excessively, which can be stressful to her, and she will also probably…[Read more]

Hi sorry, for some reason it didn’t attach the photograph. It’s small and she seems to be unbothered by it but I am a little worried about the missing hair around it.

Im not quite sure what to do she has always been a shy rabbit but I’m quite worried about her at the moment

Is your female spayed now? Both rabbits should be castrated for the bond to be stable. Female rabbits also have very high rates of reproductive cancers if they are not spayed.
How long have the bonding sessions been? In general, bonded rabbits should show a lot of positive behaviors (cuddling, mutual grooming, sharing food and litter box), and…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Bunny not eating, sitting hunched up in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 7 months ago
It is very important for rabbits to eat grass hay, as it is necessary for their digestion as well as their teeth. Rabbits’ teeth grow continuously and if they don’t chew hay for several hours a day it can lead to something called a “molar spur”, which makes eating painful. A diet low in fiber will also cause problems because rabbits need the fiber…[Read more]

The digestive syrup contains
- Key ingredients include Black Pepper and Licorice
Our rabbit’s diet is not great. Mostly pellets. He does not like veggies of any sort. Sometimes he will munch coriander. He will nibble at grass on occasion. He will also have cauliflower leaves a bit.
Thank you.

I cant find that you have posted a picture.
Without knowing how it looks, I can only say that a scab on an ear is often a result of the bun scratching the ear. If its small and dry and the bun doesn’t seem bothered by it, you as a rule dont have to do anything, but a picture would be great!

There is a such thing as stress humping. I have first-hand knowledge! LOL Do you think he could be stressed out about something? Loud noise? Strange smells? Change in the household?
