It’s important that he eats. He might respond to enticing food like small pieces of fruit, fresh herbs, favorite greens or any kind of treats. My girl bun was spayed 6 weeks ago and dried goji berries was the first thing she ate – it’s not something you’d want to feed a bun a lot of due to high sugar content, but a little bit of pretty much…[Read more]

Hey!
Its really important that he eats post op, As Bam mentioned if he’s not eating on you may need to syringe feed him critical care. If he’s already refusing food I would just go ahead and syringe feed him gently and then continue to encourage him to eat on his own by offering a variety of temping grasses/forage/veggies.

Is it the other bun that’s producing these weird poop? Difficult to say perhaps, if both buns are housed together? after a bout of stasis, weird looking poops are pretty standard for some time after. As long as there is poop and the bun is eating and running around, there’s nothing else you need to do.

Really great bonding session tonight! Salem has not groomed Bodhi up until this point, but tonight he groomed him 3 separate times, all for at least a full minute or two! I was so excited, I didn’t get a picture. I was worried I’d spook them by moving around and they’d stop. I feel like they are definitely building a lot of trust.…[Read more]

My 9.5 yr old Mini Rex, Rascal, has been sneezing on and off for a couple of months. Sometimes there are boogers that I can wipe from his nose though they are clear and do not affect his breathing. He’s been to a rabbit savvy vet twice since this started and she’s not worried about it since he doesn’t have signs of a URI (plus a good dental exam…[Read more]

Thank you! She is home now!
They still don’t know the cause, and her blood PCV (packed cell volume) is still extremely low, so she’s still anaemic. PCV should be at least 35%. Under 30% is considered anaemic. On Thursday morning she was at 18% and today she only increased to 20%. The vet said that it’s the kidneys that communicate to the bone…[Read more]

This isn’t really something that is documented. Assuming you actually had salmonella or listeria, the only way for you to pass it your bunny would be via contact with bodily fluid or your poop. As a precaution, you would probably want to wash your hands thoroughly before feeding your bunny. You would probably want to avoid kissing your bunny too.…[Read more]

Hello,
I have a little male rabbit about 8 months old who is getting neutered at the end of this month. I’m kind of new to rabbits so I’ve been learning as I go but I still have a lot of questions. Lately, I’ve noticed that he’ll occasionally be sitting on his butt looking like he’s just relaxing and then he starts kind of hunching and I’ve been…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your response, it has been really helpful and I just hope things will get better for him and us. Sorry I couldn’t reply earlier.
So Manchas got neutered today. We were both really nervous and scared. But everything went well. I’ve been noticing that he licks his wound. I see a little blood, but I’m trying to prevent from h…[Read more]

Oh, I could do it then! Great idea! But my dad is up at 2:30 to give them more water, so I could to it at ten if I decide to. But you’re right, 11:15 would be better. And I won’t overdo the fruit. I will send my mom out again at 5am too.

DanaNM replied to the topic Frozen Water in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 4 years, 7 months ago
I would not give them a lot of extra fruit, that could cause other problems and upset their gut. Extra veggies are hydrating though.
I can’t say how long it will take for the water to freeze, because I don’t know the specifics of the temp in the hutch.
If you go to bed at 11:15, why can’t you refill their water right before that?
