He’s on the pellets that he came with right now, but I’m going to be changing it. They’re not the best pellets… I don’t know what brand they are. I don’t think they are alfalfa pellets.

I’m a bit lost right now, actually… he’s been on antibiotics already for 5 days, so I’m not sure if this is a hay allergy or if he needs a different antibiotic?

he said that he would be happy to do the surgery if i decided that i wanted it done, but that he wanted to let me know the risk first. he also told me that he has been pretty successful in spaying/neutering rabbits and i’ve heard good things about this vet but after the way he said it im still a bit worried. this is the only vet near me that will…[Read more]

    yes it is thank you!!

unfortunately this is the only vet in my area that will see rabbits, people have reccomended them to me and said they’ve done a good job, the vet also said that he has been successful in spaying/neutering rabbits. im not sure if i should keep the appointment or not, my parents wont take me anywhere farther to see another vet.

That does remind me George was also on Children Zyrtex, and Mucinex so if Benedryl does not work you have so alternatives.

It’s still going on and the usual measures that I would use to fix something like this (increasing hay) are not helping the poops return to uniform shape and size, so I’ve made an appointment with an exotic specialist in my area for Tuesday to see what she thinks could be causing this (it could very well be nothing- I hope), but it would make me…[Read more]

Thanks for all the feedback. As far as trying another antibiotic, Charlie has been on every oral one possible. Baytril had the longest run. We haven’t tried a combination of injections along with the Baytril. That is something I can suggest to our vet we try. Also the Benedryl sounds like a good idea.
I’m considering taking Charlie to a dif…[Read more]

It is no trouble, we are here to help! I’m happy to hear your bun is already healing up!

You couldn’t know that we ask members not to revive old threads. Most forums demand of people that they find and reply to old threads on the topic of interest. We don’t for two reasons: A) Medical info gets old very fast. Rabbit medicine is rapidly evolving…[Read more]

@Bam I’m sorry I didn’t know, my mistake for not checking the dates, I was just desperate to ask for help and I’m a new member here. Thank you for informing me. But very much appreciated for your reply @Bam 🙂 The mange has actually healed up already and my bunny’s fur are growing again. I’ll make sure to keep him in check everyday, and I’m not…[Read more]

I don’t know what type of dirt you’re dealing with, but if it’s from calcium residue (a normal feature of bun urine), it comes off surprisingly easy if you pour some vinegar and water in it and let sit for say 20 minutes before scrubbing it out.

We finally have good news. The vet called and said she was able to get him to eat. She feeds him and he’ll eat for a few minutes before getting tired of it, then they’ll wait about ten minutes and he’ll be ready to eat again. We are going to drive down and they’ll show us what they are doing then we’ll bring him home. Thank goodness he doesn’t m…[Read more]

It all depends on how bad the break is. If it’s an uncomplicated break, it could heal, we have had examples of that here before. As you’re saying, getting him to eat is the most important thing now, and one day at a time is a very good principle!

We ordered critical care like you suggested it should get here at some point today. I’ll just hope for the best and see if he eats with us. As long as he eats he’ll have a chance.

Of course, I found out we are getting a 10 inch snowstorm on Monday when the new ct scan would theoretically be scheduled. We’re just going to take everything one day a…[Read more]

If you feed a junior pellet that has alfalfa, you don’t have to give alfalfa hay as well. He’ll do great on orchard or timothy or other grass hay.

If the nose is aldready irritated from an infection, there could be extra sneezing due to hay dust. It doesn’t have to mean that he’s allergic, just that his nasal mucosa at this point in time is a bit…[Read more]
