I get that, i feel like they’re diet is good and full of hay, it’s that they get the occasional oval poops and i tend to brush them both 3 times a week. I’m just wondering what could be causing that.

Megacolon is a condition impacting how the GI system functions, so your question is a bit off-target since some poops that come from a rabbit with megacolon may literally be the result of a gut slow down or related/resulting complication. It is not one or the other nor would you be able to tell from a single pooping instance.…[Read more]

No experience with this one, but I have used Serenity Snack from the BB store. It definitely has a calming effect, but I would say what you witnessed is probably more on the extreme end. Then again, chamomile is used in “bedtime” teas for people.

I honestly don’t measure the blends…. if there are instructions, please abide by them, haha. I just typically sprinkly the top of the hay pile so that’s definitely less than a full handful just grabbing from the bag, but more than half a teaspoon, so I don’t think you’re giving a ton at all. That being said, I would say that “nervous lately” is…[Read more]

How do you differentiate weather a poop is caused by a gut slow down or it is Megacolon.

My bunnies have never reacted in this way, but that’s not to say it couldn’t happen?

I am so sorry you are going through this. I am in the same boat with my 12yo girl, and it is torture.
What I did to prepare in my case, was googled places that did in-home euthenasia. I then called them all and asked if they were confident working with rabbits. – some vets said no, and others said absolutely!
I also asked if they had same day…[Read more]

One other thing that really helped me after Bertha died was I fostered some bunnies for the rescue in my town. I wasn’t ready to adopt again quite yet, but having the fosters around really helped both me and Bun Jovi (who she was bonded too). I didn’t end up adopting them, but the info I was able to give the shelter about their behavior helped…[Read more]

I’m so sorry you have been through this too, I’m glad your friend was there and her bonded bun to look after her and also that she passed peacefully. she looks a beautiful bun!
I think she may have been holding on for you too, animals form such bonds with us I truly believe she may have done that.
thank you so much, when I’ve stopped crying…[Read more]

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone had ever had experience with this blend from Small pet Select? My little guy is about 3.5lbs and I gave him half a teaspoon and he was out like a light. Is that normal? He’s been so nervous lately I wanted to give him something to chill him out but i’m afraid this stuff is working too well.
Any help would be…[Read more]

That’s great! Sounds like great progress.
I’m not seeing pictures though. The forum is having some issues with pictures, but if you add them to your profile (as though you are going to change your profile photo), they will stay in your media library. Then in the post you click the “Add Media” button and you should be able to insert them.

Are you referring to this product specifically? It appears to be only paper-based, so it should be safe unless packaging indicates the odor control is accomplished by some sort of additive.
