Thanks Dana, I was thinking more for her than Dorian. He seems thrilled to have another bunny here… I could of course be misreading, but he seems really happy since I brought her home. I figure she can play in the rest of the house once she feels more at home. I am actually way more worried about her right now as Dorian is just bopping around…[Read more]

Buns will mess with their stitches if they are uncomfortable and in pain/don’t have pain meds. Also an alternative for the collar is either a homemade vest or a recover suit, which will keep the stitches covered while also keeping her warm. E-collars cause more stress for buns. Apparently most bunnies don’t need recovery suits but some do if…[Read more]

It can definitely take time for most buns to relax with new humans and in a new setting, but it is super rewarding when they do! I’m sure she’ll get there, and I’m glad Dorian seems very happy for a new friend!

Thanks Dana. She retreats into her hidey box anytime I go in her enclosure. I’m trying to keep it down to a minimum though. She has eaten hay and greens left lots of little poops, so that is good. Dorian and I had a pretty quick connection, so it’s a little hard as I want to go in and comfort her, but it’s the last thing she wants. Hopefully in a…[Read more]

Understandable! It is so hard to see them all groggy from the medications, but it’s true they usually just do need some rest and time to wake up a bit.

My bun has been neutered for several months now but I’m starting to notice what I think are spray marks on my wall? It’s usually in or right next to his litter box. There’s no other animals in the home, does anyone know why this may happen and how to stop it?

Congrats and welcome home Lillian! I’m sure they will be great together!
Also, just FYI, it’s fine to move her into an area where Dorian has been, and is actually encouraged to help him start to lose track of what’s his turf. You may want to reserve the kitchen as a neutral or semi neutral area for actual bonding sessions. I know it’s challenging…[Read more]

Yeah I was definitely worried for a while but I had to walk away from him and let him rest a bit then come back.

Awww yay! Welcome Lillian!
I think for settling in, make sure she has a hide, and try not to mess with her pen too much for the first week or so, even if it means her litter box isn’t as clean as you’d like. I’m sure she’ll relax a bit soon. You can also keep her in the pen for a week or even more, depending on if she shows interest in exploring.…[Read more]

Sounds like he’s rounded the corner! Once they start eating hay I always breath a big sigh of relief. 🙂

It sounds like you have taken a lot of good steps!
Wick&Fable just recommended the “shepette” fabric to me, and it’s been wonderful for Myra and Bun Jovi. I always had a hard time getting them to sit on soft things, but I covered their whole pen in this and it’s been really good for them. I can’t comment on hock issues specifically, but it is…[Read more]

I think you’re doing great! It’s highly reasonable that he puts more pressure on one foot due to age-related arthritis.
My Vilde (who was Teddy’s doppelganger pretty much!) got sore hocks after a longer period of illness, the sores came first when he was back to his active self and started to run around again. If there’s no open sores, you can…[Read more]

Hi everyone! I hope you’re doing well. Teddy (Lionhead) is 12 3/4 today! He’s doing pretty well considering, but he’s just started a sore hocks issue on one foot, and after reading through past forum posts on this issue and taking some first steps, I wanted to run the situation by you all if you don’t mind.
So I first noticed a bit of a pi…[Read more]

How is he now? It’s excellent that he ate both a blueberry and some hay. Vets often give buprenorphin (or similar opioid) to neutered rabbits, and that tends to have exactly the effect you describe.
Keep keeping track of poop and obviously food intake. He will poop less to begin with, because both anesthesia and burprenorphin slows the gut, and…[Read more]
