Generally speaking, rabbits who are in the care of loving, thoughtful owners by default are thriving more and will be much more resilient relative to being in the care of someone else. Yes, rabbits are fragile and we say that A LOT online, and also we are online user strangers, so we are always going to use the language and recommendations which…[Read more]

There are some general recommendations here: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Traveling_with_a_rabbit
Unless your rabbits can ride with you in cabin, I would not fly and opt for a car ride. For car rides, long road trips are fine (in fact I believe @DanaNM did quite a long one in the past successfully). My rule of thumb is at least one long break in…[Read more]

Hey everyone!
If you’ve seen my previous posts, this might not come as a big surprise, but Teddy is my world and I can get SO anxious about his care, especially if a new challenge comes up. For people like me who can’t help loving animals soooo much and getting super attached, how do you deal with this? (I know plenty of other people can just t…[Read more]

I’ve never tried a plane trip and honestly would hesitate to unless your bunnies were very tolerant of travel and could be in the cabin with you. But that’s just me.
On a more reassuring note, I’ve had surprisingly good luck moving my two travel-averse bunnies via long drives! We had to move from Chicago to DC and made the trip in a U-Haul (…[Read more]

In the future I am looking to moving out with my partner, away from Miami. Although we haven’t chosen another city to move to I fear that putting my bonded pair through a plane trip will lead to stress and god forbid pass away bc the whole day will be stressful and lead to GI stasis. I was wondering what tips you guys had when it comes to moving s…[Read more]

Update! It’s been a while, so I thought I’d recap as this is actually still ongoing:

Wick had stopped eating for separate reasons in December 2021, which prompted us to go to the vet. While doing an x-ray of his GI, I asked for an x-ray to follow-up on his x-ray from July (not posted here, but it showed no swelling in any toes and the fracture…[Read more]

I agree, it’s probably cecotropes getting stuck in his fur. If it isn’t a diet problem, then there is one solution you could try… regular sanitary shaves.

Any chance he’s bad at reaching down to eat cecotropes/clean down there? Some rabbits are just bad at that, partly due to their particular body composition/face shape. That, paired with long fur, can definitely make things a bit complicated.

Perhaps you can put one in the carrier on the dining room table while you’re grooming the other so they stay as close to each other and those experiences as possible?

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Whisker Problem in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 6 months ago
After examining the environment for potential hazards and if you deem there are none/they have been addressed, I’d just monitor for the future to see if it occurs again. My Fable tends to get her whiskers caught on the xpen nooks and crannies as she loves laying next to them, so it is normal for her to have some curled whiskers on one side.

Could it be from feet flicking, if this is occurring near the litter box? If there are any different scents or re-arrangements in the home, that may be facilitating it as well.

“Artistic visions for cardboard” 😆 My girls have no such profound impact on the destructions they wrought..
Before my ladies were spayed, they’d all lived together for a while. After a fight and some scuffles, I’d looked into the problem and gotten them spayed. So when I’d formally started bonding them, they weren’t really strangers to each…[Read more]
